Am going to attempt to install an interior plus some kind of noise insulation so I can hear myself think, Jesus Christ its loud in there! Also fancy new reel up seatbelts and see if I can get the ragtop to actually work.

does your bug have the foam blocking the engine noise from going up the pillars and into the cab?

like above the carbs on this bug?

  2. there has been talk of others wanting to change the monthly meet to mazoni pzza by the cock and bull.

we have built a pretty good relationship with burger fuel and Nathan who runs a few of the waikato shops. most of the punters tend to get free potato fries almost fortnightly and the prizes they give out is a bonus for just getting out.

i personally don't think we should change the location but I'm going to ask you guys on your thoughts as its a joint community and we do it for everyone here.

so anyone else super keen on changing the location?

  3. nah will never sell the hole thing, the car is it self isn't really worth much and worth a lot more personally to me.

the only thing of value in it is the engine really. the rest of its been modified to much to suit a rotary.

and i really really don't want to get rid of it, but i also didn't want to get rid of my kombi or ap5 valiant. so yeah gotta make adult decisions here and there some days. even @Mrs 64valiant hasn't said much in the way of suggesting me to sell the engine. was kinda surprised when i said some one is interested in it. asked a few times to make sure i was ok selling it.

  4. its been on my mind for a while to just hock off the engine but i haven't wanted to, but its time to give in. gotta make some small losses to get some better gains and this one is one I'm willing to let go.

It hasn't been used in a long time and realistically wont be used for another 2 years. so ill keep all that i can to do the swap easy again but a engine i can buy at a later date.

  5. one of the guys at work next door likes rotaries, as we heard one pulsing away the other day and yelled out to each other.

which i then said what do you want to buy mine out of the beetle.....

well his brother is coming around to comp test the beetle engine on Sunday and if he likes what he sees money will exchange hands.

will still keep all the other rotary swap things but for now the engine will be parting with the beetle.

  6. been this is usually out last event of the year we had been doing raglan runs over the past 3-4 years i was thinking this year we should do a cruise to Caffeine & Gasoline - November

kinda combine a couple of good things and make it go off with a bang also allowing a bunch more people attend the cruise.

the event is on Sunday, 24 November

any other feedback would be great or do we just run the raglan run?

  7. Pretty sure that sort of stuff stopped in the 70s. I know the earlier beetles done it with the fire wall as such.

Quick stalk and seems rx7s have holes all over the show. None that look for left and right.

Just Googled to see if impala done it. Seems they didnt do it on a few of the Impalas. Even after having another google looks like the basic 57 chev didn't do it either.

Pretty sure old mate missed the boat on that question .

  9. for what its worth i have i three sets of these

    SCA Wheel Dolly, Pair - 900kg, , scanz_hi-res

    https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/sca-sca-wheel-dolly-pair---900kg/356503.html#q=dolly&lang=en_NZ&start=11

had valiant, kombi and beetle on them. usually they are on them to be stored easier and if you have a good trade card they are a bunch load cheaper and i was able to get them that day this was also some time ago. again flat floor wins over rough floor but i went for the 900kg ones so i know i can put my valiants on them with out them breaking at all.
