  1. I had all the spark plugs helicoiled on my gsxr 250 15 years ago by panmure motorcycles. head stayed on and its still going i know its a bike shop but they're work has stood test of time for me a car would be 20x easier than my bike was, worth a try bet they would do it.
  2. Thread dredge! I sold off the red car and have set to work on turning the wick up a bit on the super 6, within the limits of what my wof man approves of. Ive opened up the back end of the exhaust system by getting rid of the feeble twin into single pipework, it still is twin into single but has gone to bigger pipe with no rear muffler its slightly louder (surprisingly not alot) and doesn't drag its muffler out of driveways. Secondly, ive upgraded the front brakes to curve slotted Brembo rotors and police spec pads, I also threw in a trademe "performance" memcal supposed to give 195kw its given the old girl a fair bit of a boost supposed to be a HSV XU6 tune. The thing im most pleased with is how much crisper the trans shifts and the power mode actually makes it perform better now instead of just shifting later. Next planned thing is more boost 10psi is about the limit to where these motors stop making gains and just make noise and hot air without an intercooler, with one however the sky or head gaskets is the limit. If anyone has a old extra injector controller or water alcohol injector system let me know.
  3. They're on and bedding in. Once the bedding in is over will pump some more fresh fluid through the whole system bled up as best i could using kids to pump the brakes for me. The dreaded shudder is gone so very happy this far, the old pads which weren't more than 1/4 worn had a weird wave looking wear pattern on them.
  4. Package arrived normally i hate it when the wrong stuff arrives. SLOTTED BREMBOS! On this occasion im happy with this substitution.
  5. Pretty sure it was because you could jam a fist fill of swarf or steelo pads in em and bolt the plates back on to pass a wof then fish it all back out minutes after. I remember my sisters boyfriend raiding under our kitchen sink for pot scourers back in the 90s to pass a warrant.
  6. This is definitely a doing things once and right exercise. If im changing rotors i thought i might as well have the best within my budget so i dont warp the shit out of them again or crack them because i bought ones with "holes" everywhere.
  7. Im not sure about resin pistons will know once i pull it to bits has near new pads in it from last owner. How will it effect new fluids?
  8. Install rag in fuel tank (forget the rover part number right now) light and walk away. This will clear most issues in the modern rover.
  9. I got a decent deal on the znoelli rotors otherwise would have hit the Rda stuff. Hopefully will get parts arriving Thursday afternoon so i can get onto fitting new bits over weekend.
  10. Those were on my watchlist but i couldn't find any feedback on the brand and shipping on top from oz right? I may give em a bash in the back though. Loving super 6 holden though such a toy, v8 power on a v6 budget.
  11. Edit Just bought slotted znoelli's and police spec pads. And a chip an exhaust and a 10 psi pulley kit..... go and stop this is a first for me.
  12. Have narrowed options to brembo replacements or znoeli dimpled and slotted rotors with police spec pads. theres some no name brand stuff with a zillion holes and slots cut into them which i wouldn't mind betting will crack up with moderate abuse once, they arent any cheaper than the 2 above brands either. Will the above options for brake fluid work with ABS happily?

Ive got some big deep cycle batterys you can borrow and a charger if you want to dump some juice at it. wet foam will work good gas can pass thru it hydrogen dissapates very well you will get roughly 1 litre per minute of gas at 10 amps thats not much.
  14. After owning my rough as guts commodore For 4 ish months ive screwed a bit of extra go out of it. Its got to the point ive decided i need better brakes it shakes like buggery now when i hit the anchors so ive been hitting trademe to see what is out there straight brembo replacements slotted and drilled and slotted dimpled and slotted..... spoiled for choice they all are within 100$ of each other too. Whats the go? Im leaning towards the brembo replacement option or just curved slotted rotors, Are all the holes and lots of slots just for show or am i missing out? I plan to give it a bit of stick but its not a Porsche so lots of holes in my standard sized discs seems like less surface area to brake with.
  15. Flowmaster 40 series mufflers! Probably others that flow slightly better but will sound utterly amazeballs in twin 2.5 inch.
  16. Haven't seen those Monroe units in person they may have just changed the shape of the perch for the gain in clearance i was offered them as an option when ordering mine. If your running 20" inch wheels its going to be higher anyway so spring compressing to sort that would be on cards. 20s suck balls for flat spotting and cracking if you use your car on nz potholed roads with super low profile tyres.
  17. Monroe does shocks with a taller spring perch off the shelf for 19" or larger rims on the small commys. I pissed around with vk's thru to VE's now still love the early models especially the vl calais the nose is so staunch.
  18. Or what he said ^ A hand pump for each seat could be lols 4 people controlling a wheel each shit could get real mexican.
  19. Sway bars would negate the front to rear link. You always see these dragging their bums like a dog with worms once the back seat is full of well fed passengers switching to a front rear seatup you could just bump the back up, or drop the front to match.
  20. You would want to run new hard lines at the very least so you have it controlling front and rear instead of left and right. I know hydrolastic was all the rage in the 60s but you could make it really work for you with some new tech better valving and a bit of cunning.
  21. My preference was to whip all the push rods out and crank it over till it pops its clogs with stubborn heads on blocks. I would wrap a ratchet strap around a rafter in the garage and anchor to the head and put some tension on it a few clicks not to much and go to work should stress the crusty old gasket enough it peels away during the day if it has head studs getting them out will help alot.
  22. Dont even get me started on my lawnmower that ran on ethanol distilled from lawn clippings and fruit i mulched with the mower. Jewish technology at its finest.
  23. Dual fuel absolutely the liquid used was what was interesting.
  24. Logged an average of 6.8l per 100 from huntly to warkworth return in my commodore last weekend. I consider that frugal for a 3.8 supercharged lump. I got my 1400ks out of a tank in my triumph before with some wacky tuning.
  25. Hey when was its last warrant? I went to look at an identical one in Auckland about 6 years ago can only have been this one my serial car collector mate had it. I viewed it at the wof shop in all its blistered faded yet legal glory. Cool to see it will live another day. Off memory all wagons had a sway bar they also run a mk1 ass end with 50mm or so less track so you should be able to stuff a heap of dish under it.
