Finally have this beast up here in Auckland!

The man who bought it up dropped it off this evening. Been riding it round the 'burbs a bit, will go for a decent hoon this weekend.

Love that two-stroke sound/smell!

Continuing to daily the shit out of this.

Travel 30ish kms every day through traffic, love it.

Wish it had a bit more up and go to pass easier. Carb needs some attention, when the tank is almost empty is runs great up to 65kph but when above that bogs down and tops out at 50.

Along with commuting I've been taking it adventuring where I'm not supposed to.

And I also did the Auckland DGR Ride recently. Smallest and slowest bike there but well received I think.

She's absolutely stunning. Love it mate. Of course, it's your baby, but if that baby ever needs adopting, I know a good home right here in TGA!

Thanks for the kind words!

Loving your C50 build! I wish there was the same support for aftermarket components for these Yamahas

No problems mate. On the hunt for a v50 at the moment to keep the momentum going once the c50 is finished. A few parts are interchangeable! Rims and stuff.

My real love for the earlier Yamaha 2 strokes came from my time in Thailand. T80's and Mate 100's everywhere. I'd love to squeeze one of the larger engines in the frame.

Here's a couple I've seen about online:

Those are wicked.

No doubt you've seen QCRs V50s from Christchurch. I used to live there, rode with them a couple of times. Such awesome chops.

Sadly I lack the fabrication skill and need to use this every day to get to uni.

The QCR guys have some insane builds. Absolutely awesome. I'm a firm believer in a good cross between form and function, Haha. Love chopping bikes to no end but I like them to be usable every day. Hence chopping, then regretting and prepping the tail to go back on my c50. Need to be safe from the wheel spray.

I still have this. Hasn't been used much over winter but with the 2016 Auckland Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride coming up at the end of the month I thought I'd better give it some love. New battery, bulbs and rear tube courtesy of Botany Honda Motorcycles. Pic dump from today below. Needs a clean and some hoses tightened to stop 2T wees.

Photo from said ride today. Lush cruising AKL city with Shakatom's FR50. Only cut out twice in the rain, need more tape on the spark plug lead.

So this is happening at the moment..

Sourcing some replacement telescopic forks, have some DJ bike bars, got the steel to make up a hard tail rear end and have measured up the seat to chop it in half to make a new slimmer one in white. And eventually a wee expansion chamber.

Going to end up a nice metallic brown with black engine etc and white wheels. That's the plan anyway.

Comments/opinions welcome!

Back in 2014 I stripped it down with plans of brown paint and a good tidy up. This never happened, got too busy with school/cars/moving to Auckland. @mo999 kindly gave it a rattlecan paint job and reassembled it so I could have it shipped up here to Auckland to use as a daily commuter into the city.

I've now finished studying and don't rely on this for daily transport I've decided to reattempt the plan from 3 years ago.

Started with @mtbtimr giving me access to the sandblasting cabinet at his work. Made everything so much easier! Frame was a little too long to fit so had to manually strip the ends.

Paint stripper is fun stuff. The blaster wouldn't touch where the stickers were so paint strippered them also. Accidently left some parts uncovered too long and they started surface rusting so rubbed all that down.

The bike then sat in etch primer while I got everything else stripped and prepped.

Decided to do the side panels, forks and rear swing arm in an off-white pearl that I made up at work.

Makeshift paint booth outside on a nice day.

While they were off I took apart the rear shocks and installed the Makita one ways. More on this later..

Now for the main frame colour. I said in 2014 I wanted metallic brown.

I took this a step further. Again in 2014 @The Bronze imported a bunch of Krylon Metalflake spray cans.

I wasn't able to get my hands on any of this but I pined for it so much. Back to 2017 and @Threeonthetree mentions he has some spare cans of Bronze Blaze from The Bronze's haul.

Some hand shandys were exchanged and I now owned 2 cans. Excellent!

Derped a little with that.

Runs very nicely now though. Yet to go for a decent hoon but will report back soon with skid vids.
