Mitchfromhillcrest
I am truly impressed with the traffic on this forum already. So i thought id post some questions and queries and see what yall think. First of all, has any one here had to tune 4 carbs ? Ive tried making a carb balancer out of 4 bottles, some food colouring/water, tube, tjoiners but the instance i turned the motor on, no1 and 2 carb sucked so damn hard it collapsed the bottle. While no3 and 4 had no suction at all. Its my first time.

UTERUS
Hi Mitch, good job. There are a few foamers around so you'll fit right in
flyingbrick
My boss has a carb balancing tool.. It looks damn good actually. Its like a piece of PVC with soft seal you sit on top of the carb and then inside is a spring loaded flap that moves an indicator on the side of the tube. Mitchfromhillcrest
http://www.palmside.co.nz/product_pcid_15854.html Ive seen this before and have wondered where to get one from, If i can't borrow a multicarb tuner ill most likely buy one of those! Cheers man!
Mitchfromhillcrest
I did manage to sort some of the vacuum issues out, since 2 springs were missing in the throttle linkages it was sitting a bit open, enough to suck heaps more than the other two carbs. Test drive was exhilarating. Now Greg, that means exciting.
Mitchfromhillcrest
Now since my car doesnt have vaccum advance standard , Ive had to advance the dizzy nearly all the way forward to acheive driveabilty. But i have been bothered by the fact it revs so damn high. Research shows a Saab 900 dizzy works with my set up (good luck finding one of those). Ill keep researching and looking around but for now Ill get it woffed.
tortron
Hey see the tech thread on 'tuning' dizzys set up like that it may give too much total advance. Tho itl run like a 3 legged dog at low idle with bike carbs etc could lookout for a 123 distributor, they are quite nice i hear with different maps and can set to a safe max advance, and i believe rev limit. I will be using an electonic repo of the cooper s mechanical advance only dizzy in my minor, could try tyem as i believe they do bosch copies as well will hrow some gang signs at you when im back that way
Mitchfromhillcrest
Ive seemed to found a sweet spot in the advancement of the dizzy, Revs a bit high on idle ,around 1400rpm, but feels like max power is achieved!! Cruises nicely too. Few things left to touch up, Headliner and boot liner then I think shell be ready for sale sadly. On a better note, Ive bought a diesel mk2 too!
