csr
Hey guys new here Just bought a 1980 mk2 sport its a rolling body on 13x7 mini lights. I'm wanting to put discs on rear and upgrade front and have seen the Wilwood kits anybody know if the dynapro or powerlites will fit in the 13'' minilights? and is there a good kit for the rear? the dynapro 2 pots look good but no cable handbrake To do this I obviously need to modify pedal box I'm a fabricator so ill just do it my self anybody got any dxf's? will pay ya Need new shocks front and rear what do everyone use? would rather adjustable ones and want to lower the car 2'' I guess, what do you normally do with the front here? probably be putting a pinto in it, so in need for motor and box if anyone has one. Cheers in advance guys, how do I upload a pic?
StuT
Outlaw brakes are meant to fit under 13", been looking myself for my capri . Cheaper set up also.
Gaz
Outlaw as above or I 'think' Wilwood do an M16 bolt on calliper. What do you want to upgrade the rear for? With vented front disks and decent callipers you'll be sweet. I wouldn't bother with rear unless upgrading diff. (I have owned both drum rear escorts and disc rear) Shocks, just use escort and shorten them if you need to (depends on how low).. if you want adjustable shocks then check out GAZ brand from the UK. For lowering generally people either put blocks in rear or have leaves reset, see Archer Springs to reset. For front if you only want 2" youll prob get away with king springs or similar... or since your a fabricator; weld on a universal coilover kit brought from tardme. Spring rate you'd want around 220 for escort with pinto from memory. Capri struts are what people tend to use for upgrade as it is stronger & has removable bottom joint... no reason you cant use escort though. csr
Will stay as a road car with a pinto I'm thinking. probably repainting it orange ill see how it looks with the ally mini lights but I kinda like the idea of powder coating them black.
shaneo
Looks like a good base . Mine has reset springs 2" lowered Gaz adjustable shocks all round and 2" lowered in the front not sure what type of spring rate I run in the front but they are a light bule colour. As for brakes I just have 9" drums in the rear and carpi vented disks in the front with the spacer kit for a M16 and Freddo DS 2500 brake pads and have never run out of brakes yet.
csr
Hey guys so I think i'm gonna turn my struts into adjusties with a coil over kit and run the 2 1/4'' spring, what length spring do I need?
bogangeof
Any length you want. Weld sleeve where it will still be captive at its lowest point
nicklm
If you can find them I am running princess 4 pot calipers on the front end of my mk1 and capri vented discs and they work great, but surely the wilwoods would be a better way to go newer, lighter etc... Then I just have the standard drums out back which work fine also.. When my car was lowered it had compressed springs and standard dampers in the front and 3 inch blocks out back but handled like crap.. I've just picked up some half built coilovers that really only need dampers and top hats to complete so if I get onto that soon I'll post up what length I decide to use.. By the way your mk2 looks like a great solid base, do you have a thread?

Nah I haven't yet when I get some time I might start one up. Also I'm almost finished my pedal box its hydraulic clutch with brake bias, ill post photos once its done if anyones keen on one let me know. csr
Heres some photos of pedal box, if someone wants it $200 exchange as it is without master cylinders, its just a test one so its not perfect but will work fine, has the bias bar and clevis pin for clutch.
