SOHC
On to the last job on my ratrod witch is the worst job, I HATE electrical crap, those wiring kits are not relay suitable for this car and I can not afford, but I have heeps of new automotive electrical wire, I need some kind of fuse box, what is a good car to get one from? something small, I will only have headlights + taillights, high stop, incinerators, and any other stuff for a wof. Where can I get proper crimp connectors witch support the wire by the insulation as well as crimping round the strands, those supercheep and repco one suck. Going to use the 12v DC 2 brush generator as it supports the fan and has been reconditioned, can I use a Solid state regulator with this? I am sick of polarizing generators and having batters boiled dry because I don't know how to tune a mechanical regulator.
peteretep
http://www.narva.com.au/products/browse/fuse-blocks I would recommend you search aliexpress for electrical connectors, much cheaper than repco etc, and you can get crimp/heatshrink connectors which are pretty sweet. You do need to know the right buzz words to find what you are looking for though. I have bought lots of things from aliepxress and have only had good experiences, their shipping times are pretty accurate too eg http://www.aliexpress.com/item/180Pcs-Assorted-Insolated-Electrical-Solder-Heat-Shrink-Fork-Butt-Wire-Male-Femal-Spade-Terminals-Connectors-Crimp/1316247588.html
Ned
if you wanna buy new, you could get a fuse box like this that looks pretty good http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/blade-fuse-box-16-way and they do connectors etc as well http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/48mm-female-spade-terminals-pack-of-
Llama
Solid state reg should be sweet if it's rated for what you are throwing at it I should think.

I couldn't find them for the last project and spent hours unpicking them off a Bedford.

Someone was saying they can work but only if the field coil isn't grounded to the body inside the genarator or something?

Did you have to do much probing with a test light and shit like that?
Spencer
Nope, pulled the old loom out and chucked this one in, ran every wire out to where it was labeled to go, piece of cake. Only confusing bit was the power feeds for my power windows etc someone had messed with them in the past so it was a bit of a shambles. Man that mini fuse box kit looks the business, comes with some generic ignition switch and GM styles headlight switch to make stuff easier, I'll be rolling something like that in the chevy for sure. Making a loom from scratch will take you about 20 hours longer than buying that generic kit, plus you get a better end result.

UTERUS
After building boat looms, and wanting to punch myself in the dick after way too many hours, using the E Z Wiring kit was like a ray of sunshine on a cool coromandel morning.
Nominal
I've used some Nissan fuse panels so far in my project, but I am highly tempted to chuck them in the bin and use a wiring kit. I'll need to roll my own for the Nissan EFI, but that is pretty straightforward.
