two_days_late
Hey guys, I've just looked at putting my new pully kit on the escort, and it looks like the waterpump pully sticks out about a cm too far. It's a new waterpump, but I got it a few years ago and the original is long gone so I can't compare. Was wondering if anyone knows if the waterpumps come in more than one length, or if anyone could quickly check their engine for me. The Crank and alternator seem to line up so I'm assuming its a prob with either the pump pully from the kit or the length of the pump. Cheers Matt
Unclejake
I think the pulley would put the belt somewhere around the 75mm (Edit - obviously closer to 60mm thanks to Escorto) mark. Is that too far out?AFAIK they only come in one length
Escorto.
Heres mine
peteretep
they are different length for 681f and 711m blocks, so maybe you got the wrong one, i had to space mine out as mine was too short and I have the 711m block
two_days_late
Wicked thanks guys, after doing some more searching on the net it confirms what you've said. http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?t=148407 Looks like the 711m and 681f pumps are about 8mm different. Do you know if they are otherwise the same Retep? I have a 711 block so it looks like this pully kit is designed for a 681f, hoping I can just swap for the shorter pump. peteretep
yeah exactly the same other than the offset
two_days_late
Mint, wanna swap? Wonder if Repco etc still sell the old style one
peteretep
repco etc should really list 2 types of water pump, but if you really cant find one then I guess I can swap with you, although mine is painted ford blue and has been used obviously but was new a few years ago
Benno
Enford should be able to get the right one for you, although he doesn't specifically advertise for Escort stuff he has a lot of crossflow parts. Worth a call at least, the guy is pretty helpful http://www.enford.com/

Rookie
Repco do have both, as I got asked which one I needed when I bought a new one for mine, it was only $25 or something too.

mkcortina
Repco do have both, as I got asked which one I needed when I bought a new one for mine, it was only $25 or something too. When was that? that is cheaper than an oil filer for an escort from Repco.
Rookie
A couple of years ago and it may have been a staff discount, but I can remember it was strikingly cheap.

two_days_late
Ahh, I'm pretty sure the 711m is the longer one? Escorto and I both have the 711m ones and they are too long... Here are both of them on Burton... http://www.burtonpower.com/parts-by-fitment-type/parts-by-engine-ford/ford-cross-flow-kent/qh-water-pump-x-flow-rwd-711m-qcp730.html http://www.burtonpower.com/parts-by-fitment-type/parts-by-engine-ford/ford-cross-flow-kent/qh-water-pump-x-flow-681f-1967-70-qcp181.html
peteretep
above I said that I have the 711m block, thats incorrect. I actually have the 681f block and the water pump I got was too short. Sorry to confuse you
