Bling
Some good progress there. Sounds like your dad will have a lot of helpful information to help with the build. How did you work out that the odometer hasn't been around the clock? Mine only shows back to 1995 on carjam,. Did you buy report go back to when it was first registered? I just find it unlikely that it's only done that mileage that's all. Mines sitting on 49k, but I have no way to know if that's gone around once/twice/heaps. Would love to know though if mine is 49k or not. So just wondering for that reason. What are your plans for it, what colour will you paint it etc? tehnzbrad
Thanks haha, well we think because theres like no rust in it and apart from whats there that its either really well stored or low kms.... like even under the car the seal looks like new and its from ford because from factory they just plastered it on under the guards peeled like inch thick seal off in places...... im sure if its been clocked it would be pretty mucky under there , and yeah i got the full Carjam report it only goes back to 95 at it says its only done 5k... even so the odo is'nt inconsistent so im sure thats a plus if some one runs the plates if i end up selling it....and once its on the road probably a nice high compression carby 4age and im painting it a real clean white gloss enamel because im trying to do it all my self for minimum cost because countdown sucks... haha

tehnzbrad
thanks for the support guys, i did think about going pinto power but wanted something more like a BDA or BDG but with out the massive funds, the 4AGE (16v) is toyotas version of the BDA and anyone could pick one up for cheap so kind of hung out on getting one and staying high comp N/A. Also does any one know if i need a cert to move my seats mounts back a couple of inches ????... bolted my front seat in when i got towed to the panel shop and its so crammed. Bling
Yep, 99% sure that is cert territory. 4age will already be needing a cert so not a problem I guess?
tehnzbrad
hhmm i see, was gona try get it on the road without a cert first then go with the 4age, damn will see what my options are then.
Guest tehnzbrad
To make the standard struts into adjusties Do you have to have the Capri front struts? i have the standard RS style ones with the "nut" shaped screw top ( that screws on overtop of the damper into the strut) and was wondering if i can just use those rather than spending $$$$ on like GAZ/BILSTEIN ones or trying to find some capri struts.... also any ideas on how far the threaded sleeve goes down the strut leg and what spring length i need? i want to drop the car about 2"-2.5" but want heaps of adjustment using long dampers. Guest Raizer
No you don't have to use Capri ones, people use them since there an inch lower to start with. Find a shorter insert and shorten the Escort struts to suit.
Guest tehnzbrad
Ohh yeep thanks for the info.... so i could just drop the threaded sleeve down even more and use a longer spring + shorter insert to get the same ride height as a capri strut?
