rotorhoe Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 In July BDA780 and I bought a Tandem Loline because we thought it would be hilariously awesome to try velo it. However, it is so cool that we are currently discussing just restoring it to ride round. It needs a fair bit of work to get it going (still a sweet deal for $100), has gears at the rear but they're ceased, everything is pretty rusted minus the frame, need new tyres and seats and need to fix the shocking welding job on the back handlebars. 2 Quote
BDA780 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 They would struggle to power over 130kg worth of human tho. Internal gear rear hub. Easy to restore?? Quote
Yowzer Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Shit no niggah, Couple of 3KW chainsaw motors should have you fanging along at a decent pace. Otherwise tell Amy to lose some weight Quote
Yowzer Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Sturmey Archer 3speed? No idea on those things. Pop it open and drown in CRC and see if it frees up. Quote
durty Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 how many spoke is the wheel. I have a shimano 3 speed just sitting here Quote
BDA780 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Yea its a 3 speed (hi-lo-med). Can't remember the name of it tho. durty: Ill get a pic in the next few days and count spokes. Cheers Only other major is brake parts and tires which should be easy enough. Quote
rotorhoe Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 It's so lush. White walls and red respray yeeesss Quote
KIRK Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 before you attach enines consider how much these stupid things sell for on tm. if its a genuine old tandem and not a hack job they tend to go for $500+. at least i have seen a few lolines and 20s go for that kinda money. rough ones aswel, not restored Quote
BDA780 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Precisely what I thought. It only became apparent that it was a genuine Healing made Loline tandem once in our possession. Ideally the handlebars on the rear should be on the front seat post. My thoughts are to fix what needs fixing, hide the rear handle bar post weld (bandanna, paint) and ride it... must confirm with my business partner first tho. Quote
xsspeed Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Being a healing it should be shimano 3 speed. They are planetary gears, (like sturmeys) and a bit of a mind fuck - cool though. Count the number of spokes in the rear wheel and throw up a pic of the hub, will see what I have Quote
rotorhoe Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 must confirm with my 80% business partner first tho. 1 Quote
rotorhoe Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 Cheers will get some better photos tomorrow Quote
durty Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Looks ratty and awesome, will be sweet tidied up Quote
xsspeed Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Got a bigger pic of hub? It looks like shimano but put a pic up of the trigger on the side of it, and any writing you can read on the hub Quote
