Guest NicT
You are a braver man then I, pulling apart an auto is like a pandoras box to me. Everything looks good man. Keep it up
Guest flyingbrick
Auto boxes are surprisingly simple inside- I'd much rather have one of those apart than an engine ( mostly as transmissions are cleaner though!) I think most of the auto box mystique is touted by transmission servicing agents who rely on you thinking they are complex for business. I'd say most people here are more than capable of servicing one- so long as they keep everything very clean ( incl their hands) and have a digital camera, seal pick set and c clip pliers. Guest NVMPAJ
Got the motor in the other day the exhausts work out perfectly , engine mounts will need some work however

Guest ProZac
This thread is highly relevant to my interests.... I too own a 4m40 powered Pajero, of the SWB variety... And it's nearing the 250,000km range where the head to crack any time it gets driven... Hmmm.
Guest NVMPAJ
Yeah one good thing the 4M40 is worth a bit no matter the condition ,so funding the V8 isn't too extreme
Guest LOW'N'SLOW
would be happy upgrading from 4d56 - 4M40
NVMPAJ
Made up some radiator hoses , bit of a chop the originals and Lexus ones to suit , will need to join using the temp sender adaptors that are available . Pics coming soon
NVMPAJ
These will do the job I reckon
Simon
There should be a temp switch in the radiator somewhere? It's just a switch, connect to relay and power fan from that.
NVMPAJ
Yeah I'm using a switch that'll be on the motor , it also will be for the automatics computer . I'm looking at using the above for the temp gauge . I'm driving three fans so I'm thinking I'll have one of the adaptors do one. Probably over kill but it might give me flexibility and also keep the engine running at the best temp. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=585314330. One of these looks good to that way I can dictate when the fan or fans start
NVMPAJ
Bugger the link don't work!
Simon
Oh I see, I read sender as sensor. I was lucky with mine, I just connected the wire and the temp gauge works haha. I guess Toyota didn't change the resistance in the temp transducer over that 13 year period.

I'm also going to use the original Pajero temp gauge that will run off the toymota sender they also have another one for the ECU .
