fuel
2.0L in a 90s Corolla - are you sure? Unless it's the 2.0 diesel? not confusing it with the 20V engines which say 'TWIN CAM 20' on the side?
KKtrips
How long is a piece of string.. Check the basics - fuel, spark, compression and lastly timing. Also make sure the cambelt isn't broken
felixx
how do i check cambelt?
KKtrips
Open the oil cap and see if you can see the camshaft or rocker gear . Get someone to turn the car over and look for moving parts down the hole/ Or pop the distributor cap off and get someone to turn it over. KKtrips
Also the motor will turn over audibly faster without the compression to slow it down so it will sound more like a terrreeeeeeeeeee rather than tiratiratiratira noise when cranking the car. KKtrips
You're on the fucking ball with noises this week. You should have heard my barking noise a couple weeks ago - I barked all the way from Goats house to Sheries house as loud if not louder than a real dog and that was with Sheries hand stuck in my mouth trying to shut me up for most of the way.. fuel
oh so it's a CORONA... because they are so similar n all! Not much stops a 3S-FE engine, I would say check cam-belt (don't think you can see the camshaft when removing oil filler cap with them) and then check for stuff like coil giving spark before and after distributor, fuel pressure in fuel rail etc.
be4ver
If it has a no compression-ish sound to it could just be bore washed/flooded. Just keep winding it over with the throttle wide open, should cough n splutter into life after a minute or so
