ProZac
What engine does it have?
fuel
and when exactly does it shudder - as soon as you put it into drive and it's idling, or while it has some revs and driving? what's the idle speed set at? how are the engine mounts? these are the first things I would be checking. mutiny
4g31 from memory. it shudders as soon as it goes into gear, is relativly smooth while driving, bit sluggish etc. engine mounts are good. is there anything which mechanically makes the motor rev a couple hundred rpm higher when it goes into gear or anything? Llama
^Motor should be reving higher in neutral than drive (at idle) on most autos I think. Are you sure it's not just resonant vibration? Our 94 corsa has terrible resonance at about 650 where it idles in drive, but if you rev it even slightly it stops.
mutiny
It could be but it shouldn't be that bad. Almost eels like it's going to stall
Valiant
Sounds like it's missing. check the plugs/leads/ignition system.
mutiny
Na because it idles and revs perfectly in neutral, but yea did timing plugs etc already
Borgweiser
Check engine mounts, air leak between afm and manifold?
mutiny
should have said, its carby
Valiant
Na because it idles and revs perfectly in neutral, but yea did timing plugs etc already Often the ignition can play up under load. There is something that can fail in the carb that gives them a vacuum inside the carb. I can't remember what though...
fuel
wont be a 4G31.. would be a 4G91 if its one of those import 1500cc DOHC electro-carb models, otherwise 4G13, 4G15 or 4G92 injected if NZ-new.
Yammies
what is it idling at? I'm assuming that as it's an auto it will have a revcounter. try adjusting your base idle slightly higher to see if it makes a difference.
mutiny
yeah is a 4g13 sorry, unsure what it is idleing at, is definatly enough though. doesnt have a rev counter. pretty much given up now/its not really my problem anyway
