Yep some mongrel had used a steelo scouring pad as a filter at the bottom of the pipe. So have fitted proper pipe with filter plate and have fully baffled the sump. Fitted a new oil temp gauge and done a few other trick jobs on it. New coil, plugs, dizzy cap. Took her out for a run on Saturday and she died on me but I think i've sorted the problem. Guy had tie wrapped the cable to the dizzie to the engine x member with no slack. Rev the engine and she dies. So think its sorted but will do a little more investigating. have a set of trailing arms to fit sometime soon just to tighten up the back end.
