J-W-G
Hey just wondering if a 4 link kit and coilover setup would be worth it for a daily/Occasional drift/track car to reduce sway in the back
Gaz
Not worth the effort for daily.. Worth it for a race car yes.
QCADTA
put a panhard rod in it would be cheapest and uprated shocks.
J-W-G
Panhard rod, turrets and 2 link kit maybe?
nick_m
Some argue that panhard bars and leave springs fight each other because a panhaard bar moves in an arc it pushes the diff slightly sideways while the leaf springs are trying to locate it too. Definitely get some good quality shocks in the rear. Maybe added another leaf to the spring pack to stiffen it up a little. Wasnt there some models of mk2 escorts that came with a rear swaybar (im not a escort fiend, im going off memory) I reckon add a small rear swaybar and some good quality shocks and the two link would be a good idea too it your going to do drift days
camo_78
my old 81 mk2 sedan(now owned by Horse25) had a rear swaybar fitted, about 12mm from memory.as the others say though, good shocks etc, maybe do all bushes too, every escort of come across had a habit of chewing out the leaf spring shackle bushes
J-W-G
Bushes, shocks, new leafs for sure Just am not sure wether a 2link kit, panhard rod and turrets could work together?
Gaz
If you are going to the effort of turrets then you could put a coilover in there.... I wouldnt bother with turrets tho.. Do it in stages and decide as you go. 1. New bushes 2. Remove top rubber bush and solid mount shocks as per rally design book 3. Install mk1 or mk2 rear sway bar if not already there 4. New shocks, adjustable Gaz shocks are really good and cheap 5. Remove 1 leaf and put one stiffer pne in there. 6. Install 1 tramp bar (1 is easier to get right yourself than 2) 7. Install adjustable panrod if your having trouble with diff location 8. I dont think turrets are necessary and I think you may loose ya back seat with them? Check out low'n'slows build thread as he has had both an escort with simle mods and now one with turrets etc. Gaz

Truenotch
If you get the panhard rod close to horizontal / pointing down slightly on the diff end there shouldn't be too much side-to-side movement. This depends on how hard your springs are too. Panhard, rods and leaves seem to work well in lownslows escort and numerous pre65's out there, as well as a number of classic escort and corolla race cars that I've seen. J-W-G
The cost of it! Plus its just my daily ( For now ) ive got bout 5k gravel road so she slips about like crazy. Ill go 2link and panhard rod in future
Shandangles
why is setting up a watts link going to be considerably more expensive? lost of production cars came out with them, if they were massively expensive they would have all had panhards
