karlb
in the posts iv serached and read they all use the sigma manual gearbox with the l200 bell, when going into a ex lancer. now my question is; will the 63 bolt onto the lancer 5 speed? DJZ
I seem to remember something being up with the clutch splines when I did mine, I think I fitted a 63 clutch but it had a different number of splines to the 1600 gearbox, symptom was no drive hah. Had the motor in and out about 4 times before I realised what was wrong.
ProZac
Whats your 63 out of? If its a wideblock model, then, no, it wont bolt to your lancer 5 speed. If its a narrowblock, then yes, your all good. Narrowblocks are way more common, so you'll probably be okay. And DJ, lol clutch lol.
fuel
the only wideblock carb 4G63 is the one out of late 80s/early 90s 4x4 L200s or L300s, and they should be mid-sump rather than front-sump which would be a quick way to tell them apart. Those engines aren't as common as the typical FWD/RWD Sigma or 2WD L200/L300 etc.
karlb
shit only read this now.been pretty slack lately. its a narrow block out of a 81 sigma with auto. will i need to get a 4g63 flywheel and clutch setup?or use the 4g32 set? cheers karl
karlb
well pulled the motor out of the sigma today. the gearbox bolts up no problem there. and im guessing im gona have to use a sigma flywheel as its a 6 bolt crank. so i think im also going to have to use a g63 clutch iswell. karlb
I seem to remember something being up with the clutch splines when I did mine, I think I fitted a 63 clutch but it had a different number of splines to the 1600 gearbox, symptom was no drive hah. Had the motor in and out about 4 times before I realised what was wrong. hey man do you know what clutch system you used in yours?
DJZ
I just bought a clutch from Repco, I think from memory I used the Sigma flywheel so it was a Sigma kit then I swapped the clutch plate for one the same size as the Sigma one but with the correct spline. Ke36
use a lancer clutch plate as they are 20 spline the sigma ones are 23 spline
Ogre
I got a feeling you can use a 4g52 clutch as its the same dia as the 4g63 clutch but is only 20spline to match your lancer box.Although it dosnt cost much more to just get somthing made anyway.
