Also the fuel could be draining out of the carb when it sits for a while and then taking a while to pump back. eskie77 Posted June 24, 2011 Share Posted June 24, 2011 hey man ,is it a auto choke or a cable operated choke ?if it an auto choke make sure its all adjusted properly.I have a 1600 escort and had major troubles adjusting the chokes till i got it right now it starts first pop took ages too get it right. I would check the plug gap. How worn is the engine as one of my old girls was a hard starter as it had naf all compression but I couldn't blow it up and I could thrash it all I wanted.
