My name is Russell
Welcome to Old-school. Oh the rally flares arn't that bad would be cool to see a lowered road car with some. Looks like a solid shell? whats your plans for it? What problems have you run into with the mk2 conversion? should be a 5 min job provided you have all the parts. NaN
Awesome dude, if your thinking of going to 5 stud, I'd use a s5 rx7 front cross member, and hiace (width and weigh) not hilux rear end. you can get those front guards off by drilling out the spot welds;
My name is Russell
Is a hiace diff housing lighter is it? And takes the same diff heads I presume? Confused were does eskigirl say anything about 5 studd. My mk2 hubbs have been drilled out to 5 studd. and fitted 2wd hilux diff for 5 on the rear. Personally I dont like the 'bulgy' look of the flares (I love the original shape) but some Mk1s are done quite well and dont look too bad lol. 2). Just planning on restoring to an original look with a nice paint job and decent sounds, not interested in being fast or anything. 3). Problems so far have been: Dont have all the parts yet and I dont think the car has ever been taken apart before, everything is very difficult to remove lol (took a whole day to get the struts out)

My name is Russell
Oh yup Do you have any idea how you are going to go about restoring those rear flares to standard? With the flares, have turrets or links been added? Looks like a good shell. Also what do you think the shell is with the 6 guage dash and remote booster? Could poss be a sport, Mexico, RS or something? Do you know anything about the history of the car when it was converted to bubble arch etc? Might of been converted a long time ago and be a genuine sport as that would be the shell of choice for the rally guys back then.
escorted
Why so tough to get the Struts out? Usually a 30min job. Rusted on nuts?

eskigirl
Sorry....will try to make pics bigger on next update lol. Apart from the mangled guards it does seem like its in good condition, took me ages to get them out as bolts hadnt been moved before by the looks of them and also cause Im not the biggest of girls so I dont have that much force behind me lol. I was told by the last owner that it is a 1300GT, has the badge etc but not really sure and the flares look like they have just been hacked and then had fibreglass riveted on and then all covered with a foot of bog lol

Will be extremly hard to reinstate the original arch, but not imposable.
eskigirl
I have replacement guards from a panel van that Im going to attach at some point, have tacked a couple on to have a play around with positioning and find a look that I like. In all honesty the only thing that Im sure on what Im doing with this car at the moment is the colour lol

Mk1 van/wagon guards should be the same, mk2 ones are only different around the headlight due to the different shaped grill. /Put a mk2 van/wagon nose on it for lols!
