187inc
Hey I've got a 2L in my Mk2, but because the headers are on the opposite side to the xflow the clutch cable come through the firewall directly into them. I've re-routed the clutch cable partially along the drivers side of the engine bay (cortina clutch cable is longer than escort one) so that it doesn't touch the headers but its started rubbing through the firewall bung because of the angle it comes out on... Surely somebody must have encountered this problem before? What did you do to remedy it?
Gaz
Never had a problem with it before. Pics?
KKtrips
you can generally loosely tie them back out of the way with a cable tie.. the advantage of a cable is you can run them any route within reason and they will still work.. post a pic and there will be some good options for sure
187inc
I'll post a pic 2moro. But thats exactly what I've done, cable tied it loosely to the drivers side wall of the engine bay, under where brake booster is mounted, but the angle it comes through the firewall is too acute and its rubbing. I could try modify the firewall hole so it comes through on less of an angle but i'm not sure how much that will help
peteretep
I've heard it quite a few times before, one of the pinto engined cars has a longer clutch cable than others but I can't remember which one, basically allows you to move the cable further away from the headers

Valiant
I had a MK1 escort cable and no problems. Failing that get one made up as long as you want.
eke_zetec_RWD
think mine is a mk3/4/5 cortina one. although i have broken 2 brand new ones in the last year. mine is cable tied to the steering rack. misses turbo but touches dump pipe. has that red hose heat stuff around it
187inc
Yeah i'm using a 3,4,5 'tina one, is the sierra one any longer than that? It's heat wrapped too but so was my last one and it slightly touched the headers and melted quick as. Gaz you got a pic of your shield? Would be keen to see how you went about it
eke_zetec_RWD
iv got the red tube stuff for hydraulic hoses on mine and it dnt melt. i wud say my exhaust would be a shit load hotter than a non turbo one. (gets red hot).

escorted
Also there is a little lock tag to hold the cable in place. On mine anyway
