Gaz
My Cortina has strut tops with bearings in them... one large bearing. The rubber is moulded around them so the bearing not replacable. The rubber is stamped Formoco. What model had these? I need some more but no one seems to know about them. What can anyone tell me? Karl? KKtrips
I don't recall any british fords that have bearings in the top hat - they ain't commodore ones? IIRC UJ was going to use these in his MK1 - not sure if he was going to need to redrill or what the story was

Gaz
Will ring them tommorrow. All the balls have fallen out of one. Some are now lost. I cant get the bearing out of the rubber as it seems to be a one peice thingie. It should pass a WOF but something Ive been meaning to fix for a while now... gets a bit annoying when changing springs and having to fish around on the ground for ball bearings. They are a WOF fail when they are buggered and I think Mk1 and Mk2 are different but interchangeable. u wnt u cn hv Evogaz

Stops the springs binding when turning. And it's FoMoCo (: I have seen other mk2s with them in pics over the net. I have also found some on an aus site for $400+shipping new. Unclejake
Do any of them look like the above pic UJ? I only really need 1. Gaz Evogaz - that is a shit pic. Dunno. I think mine are lower to the inner guard sheet metal but I have not looked at them since forever ago. I will look next week.EDIT: You sure some dweeb didn't put your strut tops in upside down to lower the car?

IIRC UJ was going to use these in his MK1 - not sure if he was going to need to redrill or what the story was Factory Cortina strut tops had a roller bearing encased in rubber. I do have a pair of good camber/caster adjustable nolathane roller bearing Commodore tops I don't want, but they need the Cortina sheet metal to be re-drilled and they suit a 14mm (/) shock shaft, which I think is different to standard Cortina. I wouldn't bother doing it to a road car.
Gaz
Hrmm.. The shock I run ATM requires a spacer so I should measure the actual shock dia and see what I need. I run capri struts with the cortina top hat and escort shocks. The ones I have are a rubber unit with the bearing encased in. These be them..... mkcortina
my MK1 cortina has those. the set that are in my car have new bearing put in them with urethane instead of rubber. I think chris at suspention tech can do it.
