My name is Russell
Trying to work out if i can run a side exit exaust 150mm from the rear of the pass door. Two things im unsure about: A; Fitting a muffler spacewise B; clerance under the chassy rail. The exaust is on the passangers side and will be 2 1/2" or 3" diamater. Hmmm will it work? Because i dont think i will have enugh room to go over the diff, and im not so keen on going under it for if i have to remove the lowering blocks for a wof. d.p.n.s
i was thinking of the samething for my van mate just run the exhaust from the motor to the muffler and then just snake it around to the side exit. hers a quick pic.it could work i know i have some mean drwing skills lol dan
My name is Russell
Oh yup, so the location you have drawn the muffler, that is that dimple in the body for the muffler to sit originally in? That would be sweet. Wonder if you can get enogh clearance under the sill, Im concerned about things like speed bumps. If you had it just infront of the wheel, would this help with clearance enough. d.p.n.s
just had a wee look under my van and the leave spring mount is right in the way. and would be a cunt to get around unless........ your not planning on going low atall then just mount it under it. i think i may have to take mine over the diff and out the back lol dan
My name is Russell
Bugger! Im guessing the front leave mount is further forward than than 150 from the rear of the door? Hmm may have to go under diff and have to flange prior to it for with / without lowerblocks.
d.p.n.s
ive got an idea mate exhaust from the motor........muffler in the standard place......... and seeing as your not having a rear seat ..... snake it up inside the car and out the side like this but on the left side of the car and it wouldnt hav any probs with the leave mounts dont think you would have a prob with cert and you could make a box to cover it in the car i would do it but i want a rear seat dan

My name is Russell
Yeah had a look last night and realized it was not going to work nowhere for the muffler to live for a start.
Jase
dude at work runs his stock car exhaust straight through the passenger compartment, uses lagging from the dairy factory with a tin shroud over it, its still cool to touch the lagging after a race and nothing in the way, passenger non existant though
My name is Russell
Yeah did cross my mind of doing something along those lines, but then thought iv removed enough from the shell for now for something im trying to make road legal. Jase
could just increases the tunnel size and run it along there next to the gb then right angle out behind the passenger seat?
My name is Russell
Yeah you deffinatly could, im just a little worried about chpping up the car anymore than what i already have. On option two under the diff http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... p?t=106969 Whats the disadvantages of this, im just concerned with what it would be like everytime you go to jack up your car on the sills and at WOF time etc? Would probably perform better and cost a bit less?
phr34kr
I know that scimitar GTE's have the exhaust run under the diff like that from factory and i haven't heard anything about them being prone to cracking or anything so they must be okay if they are well supported? although they are quite high so don't have too much of a ground clearance problem. SHGWAG
You could run a watts link on the diff to limit the amount of sag you get when it gets jacket up / wouldn't work unless you were jacking up both sides. Easy answer: Make up two exhausts, one under diff, one over diff.
Spencer
I run under the diff on the crown, abit different as I'm coil sprung but my shorter shocks to keep every thing captive stop the diff hitting the exhaust when I jack it up
My name is Russell
Easy answer: Make up two exhausts, one under diff, one over diff. Ha what ya mean? Ok cool cheers guys will get the rear end fully assembled tonight and see what space i have avalible. Could always make some sort of quick release prior to the diff i guess.
