shizzl
O Hai... has anyone had much experiance with mazda g6 engines? theyr the 2600cc found in proceeds and b2600s.. from some info i found that was very fukn minimal it said the power was 88kw...240nm torque and 8.4 compression ratio. does this sound right? my thoughts is that it has low comp....? can it be turboed/supercharged?? ive been looking at buying a proceed cos theyr big enough for the whole family plus some hot swedish hitchikers, plus tools and towing the stocky....but not really common in Diesel power.... thoughts? mikuni
I think those are the Mitsubishi "Astron" 2.6l engine that is otherwise found in L200's etc. Will check on that though. Edit: Sorry, I'm only partially right. If wiki is to be believed the earlier engines (G54B) up until '88 were Mitsi units but were replaced with Mazdas own version, the G6 in 1988, which you are probably already aware of anyway. shizzl
im picking one up tomorrow... sold the mu tonight.. may look at dropping in a MPV v6 later if the g6 cans out.. found out that the G6 is a mazda version of the mitsy G52.. factory they have puss bucket head castings, lots of weak points. however a good old kiwi cunt made new heads with more material in the weak points. so if anyone is gonna buy one,try to find one that has had the head replaced with a new one, like the one were getting... may also look into putting a blower or hairdryer on it... smokin' joe
seeing as they are a mitsi motor, wouldn't it be easier to upgrade to a 6G72 or simalar v6??
fuel
the G6 is unrelated to the 4G52/4G54. For starters the intake and exhaust are on reversed sides of the head between the two, and the bellhousing pattern is totally different. Also, in response to above the 6G72 doesn't share the same bellhousing as their 4 cylinder motors. If that were the case, I would be using an RX-7 gearbox with B2600 bellhousing.
