Mr.Mk1
Ageed. Thats a cool old boat. Man those seats are so neat aye! Smoothies look so badass on the chev, hopefully they suit the Holdang the same!
Insani-T
Cheers guys, yeah the seats need a little bit of a touch up here and there but the door cards that go with them are pretty much brand new. Hope to a 12 month build, so we shall see. The more I work on it, the more I find that needs doing If I can find a right guard and left rear door it will be much sooner. It already has lowering blocks in the back, not that you would bloody know
kyteler
Nice man. Factory Holden rust, I see. Base of L/F Pillar. Still, all things considered it looks in better/similar shape to my 63. SO stoked to see a wider range of vehicles on OS recently.

Insani-T
Yeah the way Holden designed the water to be removed from the cowls wasnt the best and thats why the gaurds rusted out in the corners and why there is a little bit under the dash. I will be fixing that problem, just requires a little more hose and make the water exit out near the wheel or something. People have been asking if I have given up on the bucket, I had thought of selling it and putting the money into this. But I really want both, just going to get this back on the road and then refocus on the bucket. This will be my new daily, so when I get close to painting it I will sell my merc for what ever just to get rid of it.
kyteler
Yeah, they didn't remedy the problem right through the H* range either. Should look good in that later green too. If you had a photo of it before you started pulling trim off (or is that how it came?) I could have pshopped it to get to close to how it might look. Insani-T
Yeah I got it with all the chrome and stuff already taken off, a panelbeater took it apart so everything has been labeled so going to be rather easy to put back together. Just would have been wicked if you been able to do that, o well I will just have to wait and see. Going to start scraping off all the underseal from the guards and around the front end. Will get that area ready for paint before taking it home to do all the welding/rust repairs.
MACKAZ
I think the 179 is a good idea bro. Reasonable on gas and eff all worries when it comes to rego time. Sweet....Also the sweet sound of mechanical lifters....
Insani-T
No worries when it comes to rego or wof, they look pretty much the same as the grey motor that was in it except red. So um yeah just spray grey/black and then sorted.
Insani-T
Was cleaning the underseal off the guards yesterday, I did one whole guard and looked really good. Show my brother and he said, with it looking that good I would have stopped after doing a small patch. So wasted like an hour, but meh. Also was looking at why the previous owner bogged the roof. It appears they have replaced (tryed to anyways) part of the gutter on the roof and done a balls up job. So after further discussion, we have decided we are going to chop the gutters off and just reseam the roof. So it will look like no other. Your thoughts? Steelies
do it... she'll be smooth as if you think its worth the work, as opposed to fixing up the dodgy repair that is
kyteler
Yeah, do it Roof chop at the same time?
Insani-T
Lol na no roof chop, althought people do it in Aussie all the time. But be about the same amount of work to repair as it would be to chop off. Only difference will be there is no gutter to collect water again, so wont rust out again (bonus). kyteler
Just means the water is more likely to find it's way in through the doors/pool at the base of the shuts. Shouldn't be a drama though. Go for it man.
Insani-T
Hmm didnt think of the water going into the doors because of no gutters. Will just purchase some weatherstrips for the doors I think. That should sort out that issue. Are there places where you can hire a steam cleaner? Want to do the engine bay soon.

Insani-T
Yeah true that, my mind is all up the shit today. Having to deal with a useless work mate must finally be fucking my head up. Going to ring them and find out a hire price.
Insani-T
Sweet so this colour scheme is pretty much what I want bang on. But this car has the steel strips down the sides taken off, I quite like this look. But will need to keep the gutters so the white roof doesnt just stop in the middle of nowhere
MACKAZ
grey motor that was in it except red.. I thought these ol girls came with 149/179 (in Premier) red motors? 138s (i thought) only came in 48/215s, FJ-EK.....
