Goat
Been trying to work out which gearbox would best be suited to the jag. Got all the ratios of all the boxes and get the following comes. This is calculated with my current mags and the 3.08:1 diff. Car weighs bout 1600kgs Would lower ratio gearbox be better for accelerating? or would it not make much difference. Thinking of getting a w56 or w59 which have really low gearing. But same top gear as normal w55/57/58 boxes. W57 is same as w58 except for top gear
Unclejake
Mate - I don't know the answer but with the V12 I would assume that you have a big, lazy torquey (sp?) engine and therefore will get the best results out of a reasonably wide ratio gearbox. If you can pass cars in one gear (say between 80-120kmph) it will feel great. They are not a 'busy' motor and the car is not one that was designed to be rushed. My vote = wide ratio
V8Pete
347 km/h @ 6500 rpm. Mean. Sorry, can't offer any useful advice.
Goat
Was intended to be a lazy car with the slushbox. 3rd gear the whole way on a journey. raced at taupo in dads one and only used seccond. But i dont want it to be lazy. I like changing gear. They quite hapily rev to 6500. Read somewhere that stifer valve springs will go to 13000rpm Probably with loads of other work tho . And it only starts to sound good at 4000 . It wont be my daily driver so fuel economy wont be a big issue. I just want good off the line performance. Makes 440nm @ 2500rpm or something
kyteler
I'm with UncleJake on this one.. big torquey motor, wide ratio would be best suited, whether it was lazy cruiser styles or giving it a bit of shit, the engine will easily handle the wider ratios. Spencer
Read somewhere that stifer valve springs will go to 13000rpm rofl 13000rpm jag v12? that would take one hooge cheque book, You'll hardly notice the difference with the w56 etc just go for what ever you can find/ the one with the best 5th gear

Spencer
I'd say his cheque book would have to be at least this big
