Gotta put those lines in them to give them strength also. Some 44 gallon drums already have the swages in them, assuming mini tubs and not full size tubs. I couldnt find any with more than one swage in it. I anted mini tub but with two swage on each tib

Gaz
Basically mini tubbing is like tubbing without moving chassis rails. You move the wheel well in hard up against the chassis rails and square them off so the look basically like a 44 gallon drum. Usually procedure is also to run the wheel well flat out to the guard rather than curving diwn to meet the wheel opening. Just makes the best use of the space you have available without major structural mods.See here for example pics, hard to see if they have squared the tub off to the guard though - http://www.wolferacecraft.com/install/must/musminitub.aspx Callum When they square it at the outside edge. So rear gaurd pannel. Is it possiable to do this without disturbing the paint on the outside of the vehicle?

mk2_escort
i see... do they do anything to strengthen the chassis then? make up for lost rigidity?

mk2_escort
oh ok. how much does this cost if, say, you are getting someone to do it for you (i.e. not a mate)? i presume it needs a cert?

SYKOV6
dont know wether mini tubs would require a cert or not not really structural mod no chassis mods etc and how many places would pick it up if it was a good job anyway
Gaz
I wanted to get it done in the escort as they have stupid inner guards. The top starts to go in to early so the top edges of my 195/50/15s rub real easy. I want kinda at least 205s in there so was thinking of squaring it up. Not a biggie just means my paint needs to be redone which sucks balls.

'tis one of those things you do earlier for cert stz
RT
yeah poeple say it is but i cant see how >? maybe the process of flipping them in the vice can be dodge i mean ur relaying on that little bolt to hold everything together so it dont bust open and kill u but once shes all bolted down i dont see any danger ? please correct me if i'm wrong! that happened to me once and it fired the nut through the garage wall. Almost killed myself. It a dangerous and stupid way of lowering your car.. just don't bother. If you can't afford to get them reset or new lowering blocks then leave it standard until you can. I know cause I did it myself lol. You soon learn not to bother with these cheap dodgy ideas with cars.
