mate you mite be pushing it to make 200rwkw. both me and rt r running around 20psi and make 120 - 140 rwkw injected and intercooled. we just have stump pulling torque. u will have to be intercooled if you run that much boost with out trick knock sensers etc. good luck tho, iv got one of those superchargers and they are quite big and the pully is huge so lots of room to improve it.

hmmm maybe you need a bigger turbo then ive heard of 480hp at the flywheel from a turbo injected intercooled pinto over in aussie

Thats 360 kw.

I donot believe that this is posiable with the sohc head or even without injection and a motec EMS or similar.

The fastest escorts with SOHC pintos are 9.1 1/4 and are running 298kw from a 2l with a sohc head. These engines are almsot fully custom from pistons to larger diameter cams and cam posts. It runs a HUGE turbo and alot of boost and a computer similar to Motec. I think this would be the max possiable you could get from a pinto without dohc weather it be blown or turbs.

nah fuck injection thats why im not putting my m8s 200kw atw 4a-gte in it ive seen those sort of numbers out of similair engines i know i can get the power im just worried bout it holding together

Which carbed engines have you seen 200kw ATW's out of?

Im not am expert on pintos by any means, but if you want that sort of power from one and youre planning on getting rods etc from a cosworth, a good port job, big cam and then fabricating inlet and exhaust manifolds, then why not go for the cosworth engine in the first place?

i know there really expensive but 200kw will require alot less work than a Sohc pinto with a suck/ blow through turbo setup

cosworth engines have the same pinto block, head and internals are the difference

Nope -

Cosworth blocks are 205 blocks, used in 1988- ford SOHC and DOHC sierras.

These have thicker cylinder walls. (the internals on the standard 205 block are more heavy duty than the standard pinto block - but obviously not up to cosworth standards)

Yes. Im sure its all described on RTs site but to clear things up

The 205s have two advantages:

1. Stronger rods

2. stronger/thicker walls to allow them to be bored to 95tho over MAX...

They dont have the same pistons as the cossie.

They come in some sierras as mentioned above and also the transits. To tell a 205 block there is 205 stamped on either side of the block under the manifold ports. About 5cm high. Pic can be found in the tech articals in the 2l conversion escort thread.

So to build a strong 2l engine for an escort, capri or mk3 forward cortina use a 205 if you can find one.

To build one for a mk1/2 cortina you will want to find one of the earlier blocks that has an extra bolt hole on the opposite side to the oil pickup on bottom of block (sump). Dont think this applies to you however.

Sorry i havn't been here to answer all these questions. I'm in Europe at the moment on holiday.

Without injection you will struggle whatever you do. Without forged pistons you are screwed if you want to make over 150bhp. The 205 rods are better.. but still wont handle over 250bhp. Definately won't handle reving much past 6,500rpm. If you think they will hold 300bhp and rev to 7,000rpm you are sadly mistaken. You will also struggle to get a pulley big enough to crank 280kw! You're talking huge power here mate. I would suggest looking at a different engine.

Or.. you will need a spec like the malta pintos.. and loads of cash. I have no idea what trans you are planning on putting that kinda of power through. The malta boys use 2 speed air shift auto's....

They have the most powerful pintos I have ever seen and sit somewhere between 350-400bhp.

None of them use carbs.
