J2Racing
Sold a copy on trademe about six months ago. That book rocks. I got it when I had a MK2 capri. Never new stuff like the inlet ports are to big.
eskynut
cosworth engines have the same pinto block, head and internals are the difference Nope - Cosworth blocks are 205 blocks, used in 1988- ford SOHC and DOHC sierras. These have thicker cylinder walls. (the internals on the standard 205 block are more heavy duty than the standard pinto block - but obviously not up to cosworth standards) The early cossie blocks were the famous 205 but the later blocks (on the 4wd) are a 200 block. Stronger, thicker castings and no core plug and also a thicker rear flange. To get real hp from a pinto you need to use YB cossie crank stroked to 88mm, cossie steel H section rods, fordged pistons oversized to 93 or if poss 94mm, ultra lightweight flywheel. Then the head will need some serious head work. Huge valves, big ports, or better yet an alloy race head (which will cost the same as a cast one all done up) and then either injection system or HUGE carbs (48's or bigger). After all this you'll find buying a cossie YB motor and using that will be cheaper - sort of.

eskynut
who digs up a thread 2 years old? I read the last thread and went back to the start to see what the fuss was about. Just thought my little spec would be of interest.
