spacie
ok so i wanna drop in a 1600...am i correct in assuming that its just a straight forward bolt in?like maybe a half day job?will my Coby extractors bolt up 2 the 1600? (i have a 1300)
Raizer
is it out of a Escort or tina? the tina sump wont fit over the escort x member, if it doesnt fit you'l have to heat and hammer your 1300 sump so the rods dont hit the side of the sump, but you've got to keep the bolt patern the same. Other than that its a bolt in job, and you may need to get you head pipe extended a couple of inches so your exhaust clears the floor. Toucan
Yeap as hellraizer said, the 1600 block is about an inch higher so the extractors may need extending. And correct with the sump, I have a early cortina 1600 in my escort and the sump hits the crossmember, but you can hammer the sump back carefully without needing to cut and weld it. Also if it is a cortina engine, use the escort flywheel and clutch assembly, as the cortina one has different teeth on the flywheel and a wider pressure plate. Only other thing I came across was the accellerator cable bracket, if you change the intake manifold or carb you may need to fiddle with the bracket to make sure it still lines up and works correctly. Other than that its a piece of cake
Gaz
Yeah was going to mention carb linkages. IF your going to have to stuff round with them might as well be stuffing round with a 32/36 version and linkages.
Gaz
Not sure but maybe also do radiator?
Toucan
I kept 1300 radiator, is there even a difference? My viscous fan on the waterpump wasn't in the best condition so I have a 10" electric fan aswell, and I've never had any problems with it running hot. Yeah the 1600 is only 1/2 inch taller, i only had a electric fan on my workd 1600, but thats got a 3500 rover v8 core in it.

spacie
ahhh if u kept up 2 date with my Users Projects u would c that i have no 2L or parts cars...
Toucan
That would be my suggestion too mate, I went for the 1600 as I wanted the easiest, quickest fix when I replaced my 1300. There isnt tooo much difference in power, although in saying that I've only got a standard one. You will need a cert for your bucket seats anyway so certing for the 2l wont be any extra hassle. You can probably find a 2l for just as cheap if not cheaper than a 1600 aswel
davidian
sorry, i just read there that you DID
spacie
nah when i used 2 go 4 a WOF i would just bolt the original seats in & bolted up a massive granny as muffler with a 0.5 inch tip... yeah man the parts cars were farking crap as....so much rust etc & the 2L was beyond help. so 1600 it is. and i will just buy some new extractors (will get em HPC'd etc 2)

MK2-8-U
If it's just a standard 1600 there wont be much of a power difference, get a 32/36 for the 1300 and some head work
