CaMpylobacter
they're out there.... smallish numbers used to be a few 4age celicas, no cunt held on to them tho, ugly as and 'gay' compared to the 6s, bogan thinking i guess....

mk2_escort
actualy the 20v DO have coated pistons and got a feeling they have a steel crank aswell. it was the 88-90 4agze's that had the semi-forged pistons. 90-91 had forged and coated pistons, and the ae101 (92-95) had forged pistons aswell as lightened and forged rods. the cams in the 20v are different 2 the 4agze head aswell (4agze cam lift IN/EX was 7.1/7.1... 20v ae101 are 7.97/7.6. ae111 are 8.2/7.6). also the rods on the ae111 are lighten and ballanced but the 20v vlave rods are dramaticly different then the 16v. anyway theres some useless info lol. at the end of the day, after wot has unfortunatly hapend to the escort i think i should b spending the money iv got on getting it back on the road etc so lets just ditch the idea of 4age conversion 4 the mean time. davidian
lol @ semi-forged theyre either forged or not, right?
Gaz
I think what is meant by semi forged is forged from standard. Not as good as an aftermarket forged pison but better than a standard one. Also no use in balanced rods unless you also use the same pistons, crank, flywheel, front pulley etc that the rods where balanced with. CaMpylobacter
there's no such thing as semi forged, they're just 'coated' pistons.
davidian
coated with what/how? i presume coated= thicker ie. re-bore required?
CaMpylobacter
they come stock with them fuck knows what the coating is. prolly all shit, some say teflon or some crap but that'd burn off in an instant. impregnated would be a better indicator no doubt

shizzl
couldnt be bothered reading all of this but anyway: my esky had a 4age in it.. got blue top fwd eng,had manifold t/b swapped over and loom modded to use 3 wires(nightparts or whatever did it $180),used a k50 box so i could still use the cable clutch, used a te70 driveshaft, had a spacer machined up to bolt to the diff head and the un modded driveshaft bolted straight on,used a set of rwd 4age headers, mint clearance.sump i used was from a racecar so had a rear mount bowl anyway, mounts were piece of piss from memory, mint clearance everywhere... only problem was i got a good ofer for the package so never got it running...
