esky boi
Well, the front shocks on the esky are gona need to be shortened if I go any lower, so what exactly does this involve.. like could I do it myself or is it something best left to the pro's. Have any of you guys done it before??
Leebo3
I have heard that you can use monroe gas shocks which should lower it 1-2 inches or so.
RT
something best left to the pros.. (although most places I've delt with i could hardly describe as professional) I got my monroes shortened down to trap my springs. Pretty fuckin low now.. Gaz
WTF. how low is your car. My old springs used to be low as fuck and still traped. Ill need a pic of this im thinking. post em up. Burntrubber
My mate had an off roader and I shortened the shocks don't know how legal it is for a road car I just cut the thread off cut a section out of the shaft and welded the thread back on. Ground a real good V to get a good weld.
SYKOV6
ive got monroes GT gases in the corty ive just lowered it 50mm and the shocks need to b shortened to keep the spring trapped. the local auto reconditioner does it for $30 ea he machines the shaft down and rethreads them
esky boi
Sweet as, I didnt know it was that cheap aye, and thought you had to take it to a proper suspension place and all that shit.. So I can just take the struts down to the local engineers and they'll do it? sounds good

Mine are only just captive now and it doesnt really look that low I think I might have different struts tho, because the diameter of the spring is heaps wider compared to some other escort ones I have aye. Chrome_GT
Yeah tryed Cobra super lows in my capri when i had to replace my shocks. Ended up sticking with my standard springs as the new monroe GT-gas shocks didn't hold the Cobra springs captive. I only lost another inch so stuck with my old springs. What springs do you have in the Capri RT? Are you using Gas shocks (std for 2.8i) or hydraulic?

Custom made cobra springs, the crossmember is 12cm off the ground and I have to roll it up on bits of carpet to get the hydralic jack to slide under... of course the sideskirts hang even lower and the traction bars are 8cm of the ground making it technically illegal. But hey, chch is flat and there's nothing much to scrape on. yeah it can be a pain sometimes but I'll take the hassle for the look, like a woman in heels bro. Yeah a mk1 2dr. with mk2 sport struts. Springs traped. Was low as with the standard wheels then with the mags on it just bites the gaurds hard. thats with 195/45/15 tyres. and the back had 3inch blocks. but couldnt take more than 1 in the back without it SITTING on the wheels. was a bitch really

Or sit out side his house at night in my falcon full of lads! But I went through all the wof drama many times. Just keep changing untill you find someone reasonable. Traction bars can be removed easily if I had too, stickers can be replaced etc. I used to get shit for my tints which used to piss me off. Be nice to the wof dude but not a brown nose and keep going back for wofs if the fellas a goodsort. Once I had a wof guy say 'we don't give wof's to people like you' when I had my escort. bhahahahhahahahha when you're young you get shit thats standard. atropine
we have a guy who can do dodgy WOFs on occasion.. normally on my brothers cars though.. only dodgy WOFs he gives on the escort is if he knows its getting sorted out (and he knows i dont let bad stuff stay long ).. gave a WOF to my brothers crx after it had failed on steering column.. sold it an the guy crashed it 3days later dragging.. stupid fools
RT
yeah i don't support dodgy wofs. they're for a reason. my dude just knows my car is mint and hardly gets driven much so last time he just gave it to me.
