Driveby's question has much relevance for those of us with fairly short commutes largely consisting of rural highways with 100 km/hr speed limit.

They're not grunty enough to pull a 100km/h. My gut on top speed would be 65 km/h downhill as they're only 1kW x 2...

@Bling called it, sub 1000kg you're golden, I wonder what happens to sub 1000kg diesels in future?

I may have been day dreaming this afternoon about mid engine Leaf kit cars to crack the magic 999kg (I'm assuming the weight will be loaded?).

Is it a 12SR? Would be weird if it wasn't....

Heck that's expensive. At what point does it make someone an inconsiderate prick when their worn out old car is blocking a charger for a long time due to reduced charge acceptance?

A lot of the paid chargers have a per min charge as well as a per kWh. Encourages you to only charge up to 80% to maximise the curve.

This is key, I think it's fair to say most who read these pages aren't running one car households, also most aren't in a position to buy a new 100k cock extension ( or retractor ) new off the lot.

I'm currently looking for a used model 3 AWD, they seem to age ok but feel a touch cheesy. Good buying for the performance and range. I plan to put coilovers in a drop it a bit, then drive around suffering crippling range anxiety waiting for it to shit itself.

I played the confused boomer at one in omarama yesterday, drove there from chch, car told me to stop there and force feed it. The thing ( charger and car ) made some interesting noises getting juice rammed in at 600 odd amps.  The car said it was preconditioning the battery pack for superchargering before we got there whatever that means

Impressive though, 350ks extra range in 20 minutes

I think the preconditioning is getting battery to optimum temperature to get the Watts in ASAP.

The long range AWDs seem like great shopping to be honest and have already had the solid chunk of depreciation done. @Fresh is the other resident Tesla expert, he bought a second one so they can't be too nerve racking... I'm still day dreaming about a Model S P100D after passengering one a few years ago.

    Also,

Has anyone bought stuff off blue wing honda? I was googling parts, and they have the bit i need cheap AF. Part numbers checks out with the ones on lambda. (At way way less $$)

Blue wing are the original importers, NBC should be cheap AF to buy parts for as they must be the most common Honda on the road in NZ.

Orthia update. Done a few hundred km since the tune. Turns out more midrange torque/power means better economy. Best since the vtec conversion. The 7.8 L/100 was when it was stock auto non vtec

The local ac shop redid the suction hose for me, was a bit more than I expected to pay but it's hopefully done right. I'll get a conversion fitting for the service port and let's hope that's it.

Pretty impressive, DOHC ZC Beagle was 10L/100km...

This conversion would be cool as a polar bear's ball bag.

One of the biggest EV bloggers in NZ has one underway now.

I think it's quite a good trolling device...

  9. First road trip in the Outlander PHEV over the weekend, Nelson to Christchurch on Friday night, back yesterday. On the way down set cruise control to 107km/h = GPS 104km/h did 8.4L/100km including overtaking anything moving slower ASAP.

Way home was much more chilled, set cruise to 100km/h, then just sat behind people until a passing lane came up/they pulled over and did 7.2L/100km.

Both without any charging. Come April that will be ~$40 of RUCs so an extra 15L or about the equivalent of 9-10.2L/100km, considering that's the worst case scenario of the new RUCs, and that I'll try and do most of my around town on clean green Geoff juice it's not bad for an almost 2 tonne SUV.

Ralliart Colt is the logical next best choice.

To make sure it hits the shit/tickbox go for the Plus. CVT and boost is actually a ridiculously good combo for economy and power. Little bros 180SX went pop the day before Chrome, so we had to take this instead.

why are the running costs of the tesla so much more than the leaf?

The servicing costs? They were based on what each company provided online (or best estimate I could find) Tesla don't have a recommended service interval so it could definitely be tweaked if you have any better data. My sample size of one is my folks who have done nothing  in 2 years other than buy a spare set of wheels/tyres to make tyre rotation easier.

Can you add my 66 Chev ute please?

It gets 23l/100 highway. I've never taken it into town so no idea what it gets city but I assume worse. As for resale nobody else would be as stupid to get one so that would be n/a.

To play the game properly it needs to have a value. I put it at $1... But you can edit to your hearts content.
