  1. im liking the orange with silver detail mate,i wouldnt worry about the black top on it . and cheers for the info on your mig,i THINK mine will handle steam pipe JUST,lol
  2. yip, cleaned them all up etc,and battery is brand spankers, holds close to 13v all the time. hadnt thought of trying that.ill do crank angle sensor and it that doesnt fix it ill try this to see what happens
  3. loving the XJ40 rear end conversion, makes me want a XF more than ever but ill stick with my cortina for now .what size mig amp wise are you/did you use to build steam pipe turbo manifolds??caught my attention as thinking along similar lines for my escort van(have a sierra 205 motor itching for boost )
  4. yup, came back with coolant sensor, cam angle sensor and crank angle sensor.have replaced cam angle, made no difference so its either crank or coolant,im going with crank angle as Cletus said. and the SDU boys may know, but id say 95% of their knowledge is RB not VQ
  5. timing isnt adjustable on the motor, cam angle, crank angle all fixed in one position only.suspect it could be crank angle sensor,as ive replaced the cam angle already with a spare one i had.ill try that and also starter and see what happens then, cheers for the help
  6. it does but it doesnt.itll crank fine then all of a sudden the starter will sound like it rotates backwards once, stops, then slowly winds up again, but not to the speed it first was winding.its the only car ive ever seen/heard do it,could that be a sign its fucked??
  7. ok,so i think ive mentioned i own a ceffy a few times.now its not your typical rb20e auto with 5 inch cannon a31,mine is a 1995 a32,aka front skid v6.now,it hasnt been on the rd since 06(greenyed and i never did anything about it).it was starting and running fine till around middle of 2010.it runs fine when it starts, but it is a utter kernt to start.it does all it should(fuel prime with pump etc),but when you go to start it it will attempt to fire up but doesnt fire enough to actually start.occasionally it backfires through the intake AND exhaust,i had to chop goatee the other day after the intake set fire to it .ive done spark plugs,so i know theyre fine.its a vq20de,so 2 litre v6,individual coils on each plug.ive run engine codes via ECL,it comes back sometimes with coolant sensor, cam angle and crank angle, but then i run it a few days later and it doesnt show anything.its had me stumped for so long that i thought id ask you guys.ive asked on vq specific forums and even they dont know wtf is going on PS:ive tried a new ecu,afm etc and they didnt make any difference this is the offending vehicular object, was in 4nR south island 2010 it had a front kit on though, and thats my sister in the passengers seat, lol
  8. discussion thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26430 right, been doing some thinking about this, and ive got some ideas but need opinions, lol 1)drop tank with filler behind rear plate(ala XF coon) 2)respray in 2k white(as much as i like the black) 3)side exhaust(think seedys track rona) 4)worked to fuck n/a 205 motor(decided on not turbing this, have panelvan for that ) 5)rims(i have no idea so any suggestions are welcome) so yeah,my plans have changed completely, but whats new with that???lmfao
  9. i think ef/el XR6/8 may have had 16s but they were alloys, otherwise it was 15" steelies all round i think(may have been 14s on base models),so no 16" steels unfortunately .what about getting a set of gay offset AU 16s and getting centres flipped in the rim??old school deep dish trick, lol
  10. oh ok,ill have a nosey on clubsub now for info
  11. hey mate, when you did the auto to manual conversion what wires for the auto did you remove, change or whatever??im about to start mine up with the manual conversion but still got auto rubbish(wiring etc) in it to trick engine ecu so any help would be great
  12. i may be able to bring my subi goon(yeah i know, new school),doubt ill have anything else on the road by then
  13. It totally looks better with the 'dam; I just think there're better ones out there. So I'll replace it one day when I'm back in the black. fair call
  14. tis all good if you cant mate, ill find a way, even if i have to nick the old mans truck, lmao
  15. spreydon mate, just around the corner from EFI_LC
  16. will try to make it,dependant on subaru motor vehicle being driveable
  17. ok,so achieved 50% of todays goal, lol.clutch pivot pin was being a kernt so spent a couple of hours swearing at it before a mate who owned a bg5 gt wagon came round and got it out in about 2 seconds flat.so gearbox is in and all bolted in place, gearshift is a little sloppy but i think thats shifter more than anything.tomorrows mission is get driveshafts etc in so i can tow the damn thing home to finish it,grandparents need their garage back as i have both the wagon and cortina in there at the moment .all going to plan we should be driving by next weekend.......yeah right
  18. id keep the spoiler dude,as much as Zs look good without them i like how it blends into the front flares(i want to do similar with my escort van)
  19. picture dump gtb-now with cheese grater new(well, reconned)long block current lair anyone care to translate all these numbers??(besides EJ20,lmao) flywheel fitted for clutch new block in tomorrows mission:fit gearbox and all underside parts
  20. pictureless update, however will have pics tonight.currently fitted motor is coming out today, spent most of yesterday unhooking everything, just mounts and exhaust left to do now before the lift.if i can find the old head gaskets (out of motor going back in)ill throw pictures of them up,they were the worst 1s ive ever seen.gearbox wise its going manual this time(at least one thing can be done off my list ),im using a 94 Wrx box thats been converted to RWD,so should make things interesting and probably hairy, but its all fun and games.oh,and im front mount i/c'ing it too, mainly in the interest of not getting heatsoak like the factory top mount does.just waiting to hear back about piping for it atm
  21. only difference between the subaru and nissan ones is the rear housing plate studs that go to subframe are vertical on subaru, whereas if you look at mongols pictures nissan ones are horizontal.dont imagine itd be hard to change the cover over though.pity you didnt put this up a few weeks ago anglia4,i had a complete 95 gt legacy wagon here, would have sold you the whole rear subframe with suspension, diff head etc for next to nothing
  22. i always thought a half cage needed cert, may have to consider one for the cortina now
  23. in regards to your exhaust,my mate had a silver vzr with a 5zigen rear muffler on a similar system to what you have in the pictures,3 inch straight tip angle cut end.sounded very nice and was not loud at all at idle, but out on the rd with your foot up it it had a very nice note
  24. +1,and get a pedobear made up with a surprised look on his face and a split in his arse to go on towball
