  1. i would definately cut the tubes and get shorter shocks pretty much follow seedys tech article. i dint cut my escort tubes down and resulted in 4x4 spec and captive or not aslow as i hoped and uncaptive with the springs wound all the way down. im now going to pull apart again and cut tubes + get shorter struts. i generaly do things 4-5 times before they are right ha ha

  3. hey chaps, the old brain box has been turning over again. does any 1 have a link or thread available on how to get rover 8 into an esky i know its been done many times and i have access to a injected motor from a discovery. any clues on whats involved and needed?
  4. wifeys just given me permission to chop up her cross trainer all sweeping bends and useable tube bits. so the rules are no scooter engine-box combos. seem like the easyest/booringest/cheapest/lamest way, but motors of any description with separate gearboxes of any description are cool? any other restrictions?
  5. had a beetle when 17 with battery under seat uncovered terminals and metal seat springs are all g until your slaying the then missis. started a mini but very smokey fire, causing a very good friend (aka ginge) to run over and rip the (front) bonnet up to get at engine and disconect battery. oh how we chuckled. remeber it like yesterday great times needless to say a volksworld magazine and masking tape fixed that real good!
  6. im doubting fly wheel as it was sweet with 4 speed up it its a brand spanker clutch whats the chance of it being out? could running out of tune do it? it not speed related as itf i go into 4th stil at same or close to speed it goes instantly. after driving again it seems to build at 2700 to full shakes at 3grand

  8. i toyed with the idea of welding up whole light and running a thin slots with led strips, also recessing/frenching in 59 caddy lights for a rat/hot rod feel. but i do agree the wags lights are a touch over the top its mainly the top orange bit that bugs me, praying some1 will make smoked or full red lenses for them someday. what i do like is at night with lights on its the lowest part lit up also orange wag is sex wees. want
  9. hi chaps, recently got my escort out on the road and am having a harmonicy sort of virbration at exactly 3000 rpm is a good vibrate thru the whole car sort of thing but seems to go as soon as im under or above 3000. ive put in a blue printed 1600, sierra 5 speed, and had a hilman/escort drive shaft made. any ideas?

  11. ive been told that there is a honda civic radiator that will fit a escort and is ally and runs side to side rather than up and down like old fords. but the point being i can only guess that it will fit a corty and the inlet/outlet are in the right place
  12. how hard is it to airbag a escort? does the macpherson strut front make it any different to normal set ups? has any body done it?

  16. pretty basic stuf but ive not done it befor i wana set my timing up nicely motor is a 1600, standard bore , blue printed, big valve head, some kind of cam, running twin 40 dellortos and decent extactors down to a 2+1/4 zaust. do i need to run any advance/rtard? in not going for extra performance just want the bitch to run nice also how the fuck do ya do gearbox oil? what oil to use? its a t9 siera 5 speed, when i got my drive shaft made i didnt bung the end up and gravity sucked my oil out. and while im at it i may aswell put new motor oil in what weight should i use? have asked this b4 but cnt b farked findn old thread. thanks for help guys
  17. stick with the pinto gota keep an old motor in a old car, better still by a 1600 x-flow and work the holy bejesus outa that bitch, atlest its all escort. jus sayn u know
  18. put new big ends and rings in my crossflow its bluprinted has a cam nt sure what and twin dellortos, warmed it up i couple of times messing around gettn it right and the first run revved it to 5k in first 2nd and third up the drive way (rural) 2nd run wasnt far different and it continued that way for a week until i felt guilty and took her easyer. feel much better after reading that guide now
  19. with mine i needed cortina rubbers just drill and bolt on to the existing mount. actually ended up re drilling them lower to help gearbox clearance in the tunnel. as for sump it makes a hell of a racket when you bolt a 1300 sump to a 1600 but nothing a hammer and dolly didnt fix
  20. still no love coming from the new suspension, pass side has a horible spring binding noise when i push car up and down, and the driver side the metal bushes that runthru the bearing top mount seem loose in the bearing again when i push it up and down. this is frustrating
  21. i got the coil over kit from trade me, but after getting a few bits from rally design it would seem i have bought a cast replica as aposed to the machined ally stuff rally design sell. still does the job. and i can always get rally design 1s sent over. id strongly advise buying from rally design direct the dollar is strong so it works out reasonably priced even with the postage, the parts are good quality, it only takes 6 days to get here and if they make a fuck up they fixit (sent me wrong rate springs so sent me correct 1s freebie and told me to keep the incorrect 1s) i initialy used them because they are in the town i grew up in and got all my bits for eskys b4 i moved here from them, but turns out they are GC's 2
  22. it looks to be aout 70mm from touching if ive got it wound all the way. main reson i dont wana start pulling it apart and chopping it up again is time got to get it backon road
  23. so my current set up wound down full low with keeper springs would do the trick?
