  1. that sounds sweet. exactly what the body suggests it should sound like. imagine that ripping through some hills on song, raspy tarmac rally sound track and all. if you now plan on keeping this engine i recommend running a flush or two though it. when i brought my chevron back to life, i ran around in it a bit, and a couple heat cycles loosend up all the crud and blocked up the radiator. it needed a new one anyway but was still annoying. on the recommendation from a radiator shop i flushed it out good and now run some PhilmOff NoFLush which has been an awesome product. stays in the coolant and keeps dissolving the rusty stuff into water soluble inert shit. damn good job!
  2. Ideal, much appreciated man.
  3. Bought pretty much everything suggested above, went for the toolpro polisher because it had good reviews and a good throw on it couldnt find anything better for the budget. and a bottle of megs 105 and 205 + appropriate pads for each compound. looking forward to doing both the crown and the corona now. cheers for the advice once again. think ive done all the buying now and need to do the hard work of actually using it all now.
  4. that toolpro one looks to be almost a direct copy of the rupes unit quattro mentioned. tool shed unit has half the orbit throw so may not be as good?, toolpro one has some good reviews and recently ive been watching the skidfactory guys on youtube, obveosly sponsored by toolpro. but they did directly address the obveous change over from their Milwaukee gear to toolpro and how they were involved with stress testing it, apparently they were impressed with the gear, i guess that holds some amount of weight quality wise? anyone used them before? currently on a great sale for a couple more days
  5. Awesome info guys, That kind of buffer you posted spence is what I think I'm borrowing for the job, but if it turns out its rotary only then I'll look at buying one of those, the corona needs a good buff up too and my daily stagea would fetch the value of the buff more when I sell it and go back to daily crown life if I got rid of all the light marks on it anyway so win win
  6. Any chance you could post a pic of the kinda da your talking about? It's sounding less like the sanding da I borrowed to sand the car way back, maybe that machine isn't even called a DA? Not against buying gear to do a good job, but it won't get that much use
  7. Do you use 201 and then 205, or do I just want to use one or the other after 2000gr
  8. Perfect, I borrowed a DA but am unable to borrow that one again atleast for quite a while as its gone back into a professional shop. I was just going to use blocks by hand, and have an adjustable rotary buff to borrow, but I'll need to buy suitable cover boot things to go on it.
  9. After I colour sand the crown to fix up the clearcoat, what would you guys recommend as a polish? And will 2000gr be fine enough on the paper or do I need to track down some 2500/3000? 2000 was as fine as I could order from supercheap during level 3 lockdown but I figure it'll take me a while to get to the 2000gr stage
  10. a while ago i bought some pretty legit knock off spec deutz connectors from Canterybury Auto Electric for heaps cheaper than genuine. not sure if they have a cheaper tool cause just used works one, but the plugs were great for the money.
  11. thats exactly what i was going to suggest. should keep everything steady as a rock
  12. I'd have to disagree there, Unless maybe deep pockets and a jenvey heritage set of ITBs
  13. this is exactly the reason im never swapping out the 18rg in my lotus 7 (other than it being my favorite engine) people put 300hp turbo monsters in them, but are the viva / torana brakes and suspension and the whole chassis gonna be cool with that? nah. modern engine wouldn't sound like im flying a warbird either. the car suits the lower powered old powerplant so much more than a 3sge or sr20 ever would. the escort motor with a nice cam, that weber carb and some nice headers will sound amazing. just google escort rally cars and copy them
  14. didnt realise it was going to need cert anyway, in that case yeah id be looking at making the most of the cert tag
  15. ^1000% agree with this. hell, spend the money on minor parts, get that engine running and ditch the idea of an engine swap. something else to consider is, alot of the rest of the car may not be up to cert spec for the present day, so could open a big can of worms. get that motor running, but a sweet exhuast and intake on it. fix the rest and enjoy it.
  16. if its working for the drift cars, maybe its pushing air down through the engine bay around the back of the engine and under the car?
  17. good practice for cutting the tunnel out of that black valiant wagon....
  18. put a maccas tray under the rear wheel and hold the break on so you can do drifts in your civic e bike
  19. its a pretty bloody generous offer for a buck. i flicked through the list of videos this morning and theres shit loads of stuff there.
  20. HP Academy Tuning Fundamentals course for only $1! https://www.hpacademy.com/1-dollar-efi-tuning-fundamentals?utm_source=promotions&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=1-dollar-efi-tf&fbclid=IwAR3PpzbTmC7nwQMMKTVITUorFz8Vz2GSpCc55uUqaKIL1fusMSENWqQ4zs8 dunno how long this sale goes, but how can you go wrong. apparently this course is really good and lots to be learned.
  21. that chain driven blower is so sick. i can hear it from here.
  22. Is there something you can adjust in the rear shocks, or is it purely a centre of gravity thing?
  23. I did not know that feature existed! I was considering going to e throttle when I put the motec in to avoid havnt an iac valve, but if the megasquirt can do it with timing then hopefully the motec can and the future ugly electric throttle body can fuck off. Cool!
  24. i dont hate that fender at all. paint it black and its as good as gone?
