Yoeddynz and Hannah's HB Viva Wagon Discussion
Stu replied to Willdat?'s topic in Project Discussion
Hot damn its good to see another Vbeast back on the streets. I almost want to get another one myself! -
You could hook up a small air compressor (regulated down to 40psi or so) then use the ecu and closed loop boost control to control pressure to the reg? Would need a map sensor in line but via a boost control solenoid you might be able control it? Possibly setup a potentiometer to use as a dial for manual adjustment if you wanted and feed into an analog input on the ecu, setup a boost control table based on that? Would need some fettling...

Hope it goes well, I will inspect the local intersections for tell tail 11's on Friday evening as proof of your success.

Flash guy with your thermal imaging - now I don't want you to point that at the neighbours windows... That relay in the first pic is pretty hot too I see

With compression that low a little suck thru turbo setup would be ideal! Almost did that myself with my HC back in the day. -
Please make the whole car the same height as the front - thanks.

You could try a very thorough oil flush to make sure the vvt operation gallery's are squeeky clean.

I've had this on a couple of blacktops now. Oxygen sensor was the main culprit but also wear on the vvt pulley also caused a bit of cam wander that made it run similar to what you are describing. Swapped on a replacement pulley and the issue went away.

There's a handy wee app called Garrett Boost Advisor that you can enter various details into and it spits out some turbo options for you. I tend to use this as a basic guide then cross reference against other comparable turbos etc. You have to enter a zip code which I assume is so they can figure out barometric pressure, so i just use a coastal US zip code.

Ooh that reminds me, I found a photo of when the engine was first fitted, will attempt to scan for you.

Machining and welding Turbo Exh Housing options/opinions (in WGTN)
Stu replied to ~Slideways~'s topic in Tech Talk
Copy what KPR did to his turbo housing? -
Just run with what you want it to look like - there's very little in it. If you like the look of a single and have the money to buy one or time to make one, go for it. If you want to keep the quads then just get a new plenum as your current one needs to be run over by a bus. Changing the turbo will have more of an effect than changing the inlet.

Its the auto one, towed the boat no worries and the odd big car trailer

This thing is rad! The old lady has a V3000 she's had since new, doesnt get used these days so every now and then I take it for a thrash to blow the cobwebs out, they go surprisingly well

Ha awesome! Please supply before and after videos

Im pretty sure if you played "join the dots to create a drawing" with your mileage graph - there's a model arching her back in there somewhere...
