drilled a small hole through the pickup bolts to lockwire them Needed to find a place to fit an oil pressure sender for the new gauge, this bung was handy so it was drilled and tapped These are the gauges, oil pressure and water temp. They have high and low warning lights you can adjust and peak recall (so you can can see how hot it got and how low the oil pressure was just before you blew it up) -

I got this dry sump kit out from the UK, I liked the fact that there were minimal oil lines with the scavenge pump fitting directly into the sump pan with tubes and that it was "bolt on"........ The new oil pickup tube supplied didn't measure up right to clamp up tight on the O-ring.......... Luckily I have a mate who has just got a brand new CNC and was able to machine up a new one, thanks man! The gold one supplied and our new one, the gold one being two piece was also of concern and I can only think there may be differences with some blocks requiring a washer to space the two halves to the correct length. Something I would rather not do -

With a big shove the brakes broke free and it rolled down the hill no worries and then mum jumped in and I towed her up the drive With the bonnet off the engine bay was still full of death from last time -

So after this thing sitting for close to 3 years (man that has gone fast!) I finally have another engine and a few parts ready to make some noise again.. This is where it has sat, big thanks to Dad for giving it a massive polish before covering it up and storing it! Looks to have aged well -

This could line up with when I'm home and will have my starlet going again, if you're heading past Rotorua on your way down/up and want to stretch the legs and hold your nose let me know man. Sounds like an awesome trip. -
Rivnuts arent for the best for earths man, try to use existing welded in threads.

With mine I have the surge tank on the other side to compensate and also the exhaust runs up into the car at that point and the muffler sits there too, exhaust exits infront of the rear wheel. In saying that i dont think the diagonal thing would really make too much difference with driver and tank being so close to eachother (compared to them being out at the far corners)

Yea that was made to the MANZ rules. In the centre would be good if you could still get it low enough with the driveshaft tunnel/diff head not getting in the way. Also considering the possibility of a driveshaft letting go?

I have done this with my car, there are rules for doing it regarding drains, vents and it being enclosed. In a competition car all your reasons make sense and were why we did it. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=17181

Hey Ned, looks awesome mate!! Will have to check it out in person when it's running.

well I for one am very relieved

Sounds like it may be in reverse already, I am not familiar with these boxes but in any case I would try a lot of jiggleing and what not first lol You may have to pull it apart, is there a cover or casing that comes off near reverse gear? Have a look there.

could mean anything haha get to that when you come to it. its still light outside go check and report back lol

try wot i said then go from there, if some have spark you know up to the cap is fine. And its fine all the way on the ones with spark at the plugs just break it down to one part at a time, its a pretty simple system

^^ make sure there wasnt a little plastic insulator or somthing on the old set and not the new set? brfore you move on to the fuel system you have to be 100% sure the ignition side is ok or you will go in circles, with it all together how it should be remove one spark plug and put the lead back onto it, then earth the plug on the block or better yet with a small jumper lead to a good earth, crank the engine and check is has good spark- do this one at a time to all the plugs with their own lead.
