  1. I agree with the above. There is no need for a additional paperwork for an in service vehicle. If the repair has been repaired an acceptable standard and can be visually inspected... some WOF inspectors feel uncomfortable making that call so they can request a second opinion.
  2. Hi Yowzer. Lovely to make your acquaintance finally.
  3. Is anyone going to Leadfoot this weekend for the last Derelicts? Got a place organised in Whiritoa if anyone is hanging around the Coromandel over the long weekend and is interested in drinking some brews, talking shit, and other forms of general shenanigans... Shall drag Yowzer out to this regardless...
  4. Here, have a dose of over the internet motivation. Good luck boes.
  5. My workmates old man has made a bath and uses Baking Soda and a battery charger (or something similar - can't remember) and uses that to clean up rust, apparently that works well. He's a mad Stationary engine hoarder and uses it to clean up engines he pulls out of rivers and the likes. He's restored a few engines now using this method.
  6. I am totally making my own acid bath. What dilution are you using with your current mix?
  7. My Sunday Evenings have lacked their awesome saturation without your weekly updates... Feel free to reinstate these anytime...
  8. Your retired. What the fuck else will you be doing... Finish this. Like a Boss.
  9. Depends on the carb model. I can't talk specifically about 4Ks but there are usually a lot of variations of models used especially market to market. Get the numbers of yours and ring CDL.
  10. Try CDL Autoparts. Not sure on prices but they would be the most affordable option I'd assume.
  11. Yeah . You can stop being awesome anytime. Let us mortals catch a break...
  12. Solid polyurethane type bushes are practically solid mountings anyway...
  13. May I enquire as to whether there are absolutely any positives to solid mounting the driveline?
  14. I acquired these Clarion speakers from my Old man, thought I'd offer them to you first Ed, might be something you'd like. Build date stamped on the speakers is 1982.
  15. That is a Hiace. I made the same mistake as an apprentice, Luckily caught it before it went out the door...
  16. Yeah the oil pickup screen actually looks to be pretty clean. But will pull that all apart and make sure there's no bits and pieces left in the oil system.
  17. Yeah they look to be actually. Don't think they're an alloy.
  18. Yeah I've got a new set of pistons and liners, so I shall be pulling all the studs out and replacing the lot. Strip the block down completely and get it cleaned up. The idler shaft runs in a brass bush / bearing in it's own little hole in the block and is also supported in the front cover where the Tacho cable drive comes out.
  19. Haha yeah sorry had to fit it in around work and shit. This car came into us about 2 Years ago nipped up. No Oil and Water at all. We managed to free it up and keep it running. It's got a pressure gauge on it and when I first heard the knock, it was on zero. But when I started it up cold to listen to the noise on Tuesday it had good oil pressure, so I think the non existent pressure was from the giant leak caused by that bearing. I reckon it's a result of previous damage. I was kind of expecting this to happen eventually.
  20. So I've had a bit of a battle finishing off the dismantling of this engine. I am glad I ended up taking the head off. It was an absolutely prick. Head studs and all alloy engines are not a good mix. Thanks for the jinx KK, talking about them horrid Jag engines at Hawkes Boes. As you can probably see there is one less stud then their used to be... Gay... The studs are seriously fucking corroded. This is about half the original diameter, I barely even had to put any effort into snapping it. I think I might have to try and get the remaining stud spark eroded out of the block. I don't want to attempt drilling it out of the aluminum block. They're not exactly easy to come across if I make a hash of it. It was pretty obvious which of the Mains failed even before taking anything apart. The bearing cap is a different colour to the rest. I think the crank will definitely be saveable with a regrind and oversized bearings. It's already been previously reconed with a 10 Thou oversize. Will just require ordering in bits from over the mighty oceans...
  21. Patience my friend. I'll drop the crank tomorrow and have a squizz...
  22. So I am going to try and update this thread as I work on everything. This shall probably only last a day or two. But I apologize if it gets boring. Bling Bling Motherfucker. This is where I'll leave it for tonight. I'm super hungry.
