[Update Sep 2019] turns out there was a wiring link missing on the supply to the resistor block was never there, now car runs better than it ever has in 2 years had a mate looking her over, he says "hey you've not got that jumper #5" makeshift Jumper, which I'll probably never upgrade [Update Aug 2019] Had the second hand Res Block fail while driving to Palmy Meet Have replaced with a brand new unit Now car only runs for 3 or 4 seconds then dies Appears Electrical ie not fuel related Has anyone experianced something like this & got any tips? [SOLVED tl:dr Resistor block failed : but read on to see some steps on problem solving with Electronic ignition in my Hillman Avenger] So drove to work yesterday, Parked all normal (over the Saddle Road) went to go to lunch & hey that's weird Car fires but wont 'run', heaps gas & sounds like its all fine until I return the key to On position, car dies I realise it's fairly basic switching & wires but a little over my head if anyone can dumb it down for a wood worker Started with the Ign switch inspection (thought it was main fault at first as a little wiggle caused the Alt light to blink) then tried a second hand unit with exactly the same results, starts but doesn't run so I'm a bit stumped, checked fuel in line, car runs good with the key in starter position (can rev it a little bit & don't want to wreck starter etc) more pics & Diagrams & maybe I've answered own question with the manual? Ballast resistor? And I'm running Electronic ignition from a later model so other than the chances of the second ign switch having same fault (unlikely) which most obvious Sparky boi have I over looked"? Internal guts of the ign switch are fairly simple too only one contact covering 1/5 > 3/2 1 : to Starter motor 2 : Acc 3 : Dash 5: (labeled it 4 on sticker) is main feed from Battery

Soz if its been covered Search was not helpful Yeah they suck but I am not adverse to looking like a fool so I'm seeking feedback on these style of pens https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/wheels-tyres/other/listing-1803795653.htm?rsqid=c71fe16ee4404b40a1685cf8fe95f7b5 or if there's a good reason why not to indulge in some artistry on cheap tires How permanant is it & the listing reckons 4 tires from 2x pens etc @ $2.50 a pop (or $8 if you see the advert on Instagram) they seem like 'value' for money & dang it just saw this review on the "other forum" I frequent still keen or lol's

that's good to know on that valve if I ever get round to using my Willwoods too! wonder how I could balance it with a hydrolic handbrake too (racecar)
-
TTIUWOP! old Barry's made all sorts of brake setups on old trailers mang
-
all of the above, self taught also & I make mine into 'wood' or dowel drill for obvious reasons, with a tip & outer cutting lip (might resemble a Spot weld drill) vs the common "V" where you need the cutting edge taller & sloped back

hah yeah shit goes backwards if you want -18 deep etc then -15 for shallower etc, on my CNC you have to remember if you want to adjust the tool lengths (alter the depth) to go deeper you lengthen the tool (+1.5mm for example) raises my tool up -
might have some 10mm stuff lying about still
-
watched a neat vid on penetrating oil the other day (youtube) might be worth a look time set to start at the 'results' just hit play for the tl:dr version
-
next time you're near it see what's stamped on them maybe? (could be hard or easy to find) might be letter + Number combo will tell you for example https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/wheels-tyres/alloy-wheels/listing-1755186225.htm is pretty easy to see (13x6) sometimes you just have the 6J number ( the letters refer to the profile or type of rim according to google https://www.tyresizecalculator.com/wheels/wheel-markings
-
I might have missed it but what width are your rims?
-
I don't think you'll notice 10mm on either side of a tire (165>185) & common sense would go there, even just for the extra grip & safety is why I run 185's on my Avenger, yep does affect speedo, more than you realise & becomes evident with a GPS so yeah : keen to follow this discussion & where it goes too! the 77$ 13" Whitewalls in the petrolhead magazine look tempting too!

Most Original Rally Car 'winner' and my "Prizes"
-
Discuss here : Not much really happening here Just Daily driving 'Red' and today was Rally car Day @ Tui Brewery So got this off the Lawn : She started right up & had to hunt for a set of nuts to bolt the steelies back on, the tires took some encouragement to hold air & semi-fixed the strobe lights (one wasn't responding) 1st to register (of the 3 cars that turned up) and won "Most Original" Rally car of the day, couple of Doz of the Amber Fluid & a certificate #winning? yeah was lowering the tone a tad & here's the other beauties that turned up
-
not having a go at Cam here but this twigged by berries and is relevant to this thread and NZ motoring in general Fair-Go have covered it a few times & the point is "Registration does not imply ownership" odd aye!?!? as per previous page & suggestions you need receipts for a car & the rego owner (as Cam says) is pretty irrelevant & it's because of this point Kiwi's do generally use the Rego system as "ownership papers" because its the best we got & is fairly logical to use it as such but yeah Rego =/= Owner they are simply the entity responsible for the Fee's for the right to drive on NZ's public roads, but are usually at the owners address /lingor
