  1. Sweet, see you at NST on Sunday if you haven't bent a valve
  2. There's a very simple check to make sure that you have the timing belt set right, you can't go wrong. When you put the belt back on make sure that all your marks are in line (duh), then turn the engine over (twice on the crank pulley) by hand and watch as all the marks come into line again, if they don't, adjust the belt until they do.
  3. That and other shit in the thread. Fuck I want a family like yours. My grandad had the dubious honor of writing off 2 E Types
  4. Oooooh! (That's what lady passengers will say )
  5. You are implying that landcrabs are not aesthetically pleasing!? Pray it not so! Haha, my car is dented with grey primer patches and only lowered at the front
  6. I can probably get there. My car is ugly as fuck though, probably not great advertising
  7. My old 1G-E sounded pretty good with a resonator in place of the cat and a good sports muffler at the rear. Not too loud, but had a decent growl. That was with standard exhaust diametre.
  8. i dont want turbo, and id rather kill myself than let a rb anywhere near my life 1G? Somehow 6 cylinders does seem much more appropriate for this car.
  9. Mate mate mate mate mate. Don't SR it, FJ20 with sidies.
  10. Oh man, cheers muchly guys! I'll hold these in mind for the future! If that ever pops up again... I'm here.
  11. BAHAHA p.s. Carina wagon is pretty much the same thing, but harder to find. Only some bits are swappable though. cant swap panels with a corolla. If you find a Carina wagon you MUST tell me. Also, panels won't suit, Corona body has an extra line pressed in the entire length of the car that the Carina doesn't have.

    Notchy Gearbox

Not behind a 1S-U I don't Even if I don't replace it, 85 is not all that far away from being daily-able to replace the wag, so will see at that stage I guess.
  13. Altezza isn't the only option, and 3sge could be made to work, but it's the only factory rwd one. Low km examples from wreckers are on trademe for between $1500 and $2500 for engine, loom, ecu and 6 speed box (not a straight bolt in, but you just need a x-member made up). I did see a borgwarner box on TM for $150 about 6 months ago, so you may get lucky. Also, I'm pretty sure that's an Aussie assembled wagon with a 2S-C engine. That came with 80's Toyota's version of emission control It's got an air pump strapped to the side of the engine (to pump fresh air into the exhaust to 'reduce' the amount of CO2 per cubic inch of emissions.) Take it off and throw it away.
  14. Nice looking wagon man! That's a steal at $600! It's mechanically the same as my SA60 Carina bar a few details. I paid $600 for it with primer patches, a million oil leaks and soil mixed with chainsaw oil through the back! 98% chance that the box in that thing is a Borgwarner unit, Simon (on here) is selling the exact gearbox that you want to replace it with. Altezza 4cyl engine (3SGE) will slot straight in with wiring and plumbing, 210hp will get her swinging! Chances are it's a T series diff, so the same as AE86 if you're looking for LSD's.

    Notchy Gearbox

Ahh. Cheers guys, much appreciated, I'll look into it once the box is out. I've got a spare w55 to swap in once I find the appropriate xmember and dshaft (W5* to *A6* if anyone has them!), but it'd be nice to know I had an OK-ish T50 for future projects. I'd like a 7AFE KE70 as a daily

    Notchy Gearbox

This is probably a bit of a lame question, but I've never opened a gearbox before so shutup. I have searched but not found anything specific. The T50 box in my carina has done many KMs, (car has done 300+, but box may have done less). It's not crunching, but it's 'notchy' going into 2nd and refuses to downshift to 2nd (or 1st) without serious jiggling between 1st and 2nd positions. I've been driving like this for 15 000kms and it hasn't got any worse, but it's annoying. It was also embarrassing getting into a mates mint as car and jiggling between 1st and 2nd like a spaz for no reason. I'm not worried about opening the box myself, but what is likely to be broken/worn and what will parts cost? Cheers.
  17. I thought that shiz caused more problems potentially than it solved... myth too? I just imagine chucks of dry crusty shit floating around I may be getting a badly neglected engine soon though that will need a clean out. So just seeing what options are out there. I didn't use diesel oil, but flushing an old engine I used to have seemed to wash away all the debris that was holding the seals together. Oil consumption increased dramatically forever after. May give it a go in the current engine though
  18. You'll be hearing that ticking noise again very soon! I used to have to replace that gasket roughly every 3 months on my KE70. Take the manifold off, take it to a engine builders, have them machine the face flat and use double gaskets when putting it back on it'll be good as gold. Or don't even use double gaskets. Or buy an aftermarket manifold.
  19. Insulate the cylinder before you build said cupboard. Smaller power bill ftw.
  20. Or mount backwards longitudinally and use saab gearbox and diff. / Useful suggestion.
  21. i have far more hate than love for it Sell it to me.
  22. Went for a run today and went past your place. The tri-spokes look even better in person, as does the tuck
  23. An SA60 Carina Wagon, looks like a tt141 corona.
