  1. That's some nice work! Currently top of the "to call" list, cheers
  2. Looking to get a couple of sections fixed on the escort next year. Firstly at the front of a chassis rail where it meets the front panels there is rust. This will need a bit of metal replace the rusty sandwich. Secondly is a bit of panel work on a rear wheel arch that follows the line of the rear door. May need to be pushed and pulled a bit. Some metal will need to be welded in. Bread and butter for a panel beater, so hoping to get some good recommendations on who to go and see. Out Hornby side of town would be ideal. Not after the cheapest fix (I can do that, also not after apprentices to learn how to weld on my car) but would prefer to pay someone a fair amount to get rid of the headache for me. Car is currently stripped (mostly) and on wheeled frame. Taking it to a shop is doable, but i'd rather get some recommendations first. Then go from there. Anyone do this for a living and want some $$$$? Have gear to do it at home, just not the experience. Failing that, keen to hear where you have had good experiences from with old cars. Cheers
  3. If quality aftermarket options weren't around I guess i'd consider it. Since they are available though, i'd go for the quality option every time. Not a big cost when considering the total cost of the car. Peace of mind > money saved.
  4. An automotive paint shop.... look up some local places in the yellow pages / google.
  5. Paint stripper.
  6. Looks heaps better, the camber was a bit silly (IMO). Looks pretty well built. It must be to the police, what a flame is to moths. Must go to the light! Considered a car trailer version? Drive on drive off
  7. Why not ask the people that have recommended them? A mechanic that specialises in European cars should know what's what with your car. That said, the faults / servicing you're after most places should handle fine. So Autocare Kilbirnie or anywhere else you see people recommend should be fine. Are you wanting this done before xmas? I'm not sure how much luck you'll have.
  8. Give it a call and see if he answers Damn those look nice!
  9. That's pretty low km! You have PM
  10. Dibs if you ever want to sell it. I had one but it was too far gone rust wise, seeing how mint yours is makes me want another! Sweet project, will watch for sure.
  11. Pretty sure my old Corona had the aerial screwed to the A pillar from factory. Have seen it done on many other cars too. Was one place that rust wasn't an issue. So if you do drill, put some sealant on the screw / hole to keep moisture out.
  12. The photo of it successfully lowered to an acceptable height isn't loading for me...
  13. A couple of brackets to relocate the calipers would have saved modifying the rotors / having pads not fit correctly That said, the current pads in my daily are smaller in foot print that the ones they replaced. So different pads could well sort the issue too if they are smaller. I'm not sure how well the pad will wear down on the centre of the rotor when the pad on the machined section of the rotor wears down.
  14. Wasn't looking TBH http://www.pickapart.co.nz/stock.asp?yid=7 Not sure what year bg are so check the list
  15. What about sending them the clasps you have and getting them to make belts with them on? May or may not work, just throwing the idea out there.
  16. Popped in today and saw this: Marina 4door Wagon - 1974 - White - Petrol - Manual 1800cc It looked pretty tidy, lots of good parts still on it, some hub caps inside etc. Was rego'd till Aug this year so not sure why it ended up there. I could have missed crash damage though as I was too busy looking at other parts. But yeah, just a heads up anyway incase anyone needs bits. Front chrome bumber / grille / head lights all looked in good enough condition.
  17. When i'm at home tonight i'll see if I took any close up pics of the hammer finish I did.
  18. Talking from experience having tried before? I brushed my bike with hammerite and it was sweet. I didn't use the smooth finish though but it came up mint. I'd at least try brushing some before spraying. I don't see the point if it will be just as good finish. If you want to spray it though, why not just buy the spray can?

    Cavity Wax

Are you going to block the drainage holes in the doors with the wax? Might not be the best. But I could be misunderstanding your plan.
  20. Drugs I think. Or possibly this: http://oldschool.printmighty.co.nz/ My money is still on drugs though.
  21. Yeah cutting them is a one way path. You may no longer be able to fit wheels again safely without the spacers due to studs now too short. I assume it's getting certed anyway so won't be changed.
  22. Very impressive fab work, watching this!
  23. Have used Mainfreight depot to depot before
  24. As mentioned warped head could be on the cards if it was cooked well enough Agreed that is pretty sharp pricing to do all that work.
