  1. It fires up! Just had to replace a rooted fuel line, wait for the fuel pump to suck and wait a while till the engine turned over. However the clutch and/or gear box ain't doing anything. So will jack it up this weekend and have a gander under it's skirt. If the engine's gotta come out to fix it, then it'll stay out.
  2. eh?! I knew flickr was a bad choice. I'll sort that soon edit: just redid the photos. hope they work for everyone now. everyone being D!
  3. Cheers boes! I'd still super love a z car, but that would be a loooong time off. Especially now. I'll prolly crank this thing forever. Also, yay I'm a real oldschool fulla again / forever poor.
  4. Water blasted the diff n stuff! Before: After!
  5. I've always wanted a cheeky little 2002. Now I have one! Discussions! It's a 1971 and was last registered in 1993 and was never put on hold. So I'll have to go through all the hoops to get this thing on the road again. Awesome shape for it's age. Everything's there except for a few interior trim bits missing and headrests, but should hopefully be able to get em with not much worries. Externally there's a bit of rust in tops/bottoms of both doors, along the front of the bonnet and a bit of a hole in the sill on the drivers side. Other than that, it's straight as. It looks like it's had a bit of a bad respray at some stage as the top coat is flaking off badly on the roof and other parts. The bonnet is from a tii version and is a lighter shade. However I'll be sanding it all back and will get it resprayed heaps betterer. Power comes from a 2ltr Mazda 4cyl and wont turn over. We're thinking something's up with the fuel line as it wants to crank over, but doesn't. Meh. No worries though.. If you know me, then I'm all about the engine swaps! The engine bay is pretty little and tight. I'd love to stuff a m50b25 (DOHC 2.5ltr 6cyl) under there, but I want to stick something of the same make in there without much hastle and modification to firewall etc.. So I might have to settle down and go with a 4cyl. There's heaps of documentation out there and kits to swap in m42b18 (DOHC 1.8ltr 4cyl) which sounds like a decent option and something I could have a crack at myself. So yeah, plans are to tidy it up lushly, replace all the cracked door/window rubber, swap out the dildos mazda engine for a modern bmw engine, maybe a set of coilovers, then get it cert'd and legal. After that, fun stuff like wheels and maybe a front airdam will finish it up super sweetly. Thanks Sparkle for posting this up on marketplace ready for me to pounce on!
  6. I've always had a soft spot for those and that looks like a cracker! Couldn't agree more with your plans to subtly make it choice. Can't wait to see it dropped a wee bit
  7. Thanks heaps mate. That's a pretty awesome system!
  8. Hey hey have ripped apart my FXGT to try and find out why the engine has been whining and squeeling like a bitch for the past few days and turns out the aircon pump pulley bearing is super fucked. I can get that replaced easy enough, but what I'm puzzled about is how the pulley is supposed to work? It's made up of two parts (the big pulley and what looks like a smaller pressure plate) that fit together, but after tightening the pressure plate screw, the pulley freely spins without spinning the pressure plate and the pump itself. Is there supposed to be a plate of carbon in between? Cause there was a shit load of build up of the stuff in and around it.. This is the photo of the pulley with the two parts together This shot shows the two apart with the build up of crusty carbon shit. Do I clamp it all back up? Or where do I get the replacement bits? Cheers fullas
  9. There's that hilux axle that dirk gave me if you wana chuck it in? It's at his olds place at the mo. Can't quite remember the specs but it already had the mounting plates stripped and needed handbrake cables etc. Hell, you prolly already know more about it than I do.
  10. About time you took this back. In another 6 months you could take dirks car. then have almost all of the toyota pokemon
  11. Have this ready by the time you pick Cazz and I up from the airport in Feb please. Choooice
  12. Don't need no block of woods. Use that wife - use her head to hold up the hatch while she loads the groceries in while you sit at home and smash one out while indulging in a car mag. Yes yes.
  13. I'm not gona say zeeow.. I'm gona say geeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEOUGH! add this and win
  14. You're doing exactly the kind of thing I wanna do if I ever get my hands on a 240z. I confirm that I super like this.
  15. slammed like a banana spec or else. nah this thing rules
  16. grab all the things and make a sweet frankenbrat
  17. That thing is in heaps better nick that I remembered/imagined. How does the dry ice work? does it clean up the metals and paint so you can see the rust betterer?
  18. You've got me all hot and bothered now... and the missus
  19. I will do that. wees on it. then have a hoon. Then with cressida - I'll also check the water temp sensor and unplug the AFM and see if it does anything.
  20. It's got water temp and a pretty fancy air flow meter? I've often thought that the water temp sensor could be bung and could do with a replacing.. Could it also be a bung fuel pump?! argh.. too many things. will play this weekend.
  21. Shit, it's still playing up. Either the petrol is still getting too hot when passing through the engine.. or its ECU related or something. Would it be worth looking to clean out the injectors?
  22. Shiiiiit yes. this thing wont take much at all to look boss. Hell, it already does
  23. Funny you mention that. Cazz sent me valentines chocolates with a card and said "sorry this isn't a supercharger". So I mounted the chocolates to the top of engine and did a skid. that'll show her
  24. The new pump is a Walbro GSS342 in-tank pump that can crank 255lph (litres per hour?). This new pump can fill a bucket up with gas heaps fasterer than the old VL(?) one. Yeah it only does the stuttering when hot and does it when its idling along, idling while standing still and while accelerating - but only while hot. I took it for another drive yesterday and was being very gentle with the go pedal and only putting around to see if I could prolong the stutter.. surely enough I was able to go a fair bit further before it started acting up. So plan this weekend is: wrap the passenger side header in heat wrap, cable tie the fuel lines up and out of the way (the filter is sitting on the cam cover, can't be good for it) and then possibly try make a bit of a heat shield. If it still plays up then at least we'll know it shouldn't be a hot fuel problem. Cross your fingers
  25. Cheers dude! Always trying my hardest to make it as swoon-worthy as poss I had a geeze at the fuel lines, and they enter into the engine bay right next to one of the exhaust headers which can't help the heat at all. I have some spare heat wrap that I'm thinking of wrapping those headers in first. Question is - would heat wrap make a huge difference in external temperature? Was also thinking of making up a bit of a heat shield out of tin or similar too.. thoughts? Could make a gas tank out of an old fridge if it gets super bad maybe.. hmm
