  1. basically- the suggestion is 1" master because with the factory master you run out if fluid to supply the slaves before they are all the way clamped ( does not make sense to me since the pads sit so close to the disk). I guess masters are cheap enough that I can buy a few to try out if needed.
  2. hi all. iv just bought a brake pedal box which mounts 2x master cylinders with an adjustable balance bar above the footwell. there are a number of different sized master cylinders available to fit to this unit but I'm at a loss as to how to choose which is best. what's the potential issues by going too large? increased pedal effort and what? does everyone run a brake boosters these days? iv never driven a car without one - do they exist for comfort reasons or are they actually required? car will be approx 1000kg and have v8 vt holden brakes front and rear
  3. haha... every time I see one I just think.... yuck. edit: the altezza is yuck.. not the beams
  4. Picked up these fishnets. I'm going to see if i can buy some nice new covers that i can fit myself- but will probably end up covering the wear (and the same place on the other seat) with iron on leather patches of some kind.
  5. hi all. what's the story with having your brake master and booster up inside your dash/ above the foot well? legal? can anyone suggest a vehicle they has it's master above the pedal? I'm looking for extra engine bay clearance cheers, Nathan
  6. the thing is most factory ecu's have a very safe mild tune. I have seen MASSIVE power results just from the fitment if an aftermarket ecu and some decent dunno time ( with a tuner who knows what he is doing) problem with a mega squirt is that your local tuner might not be familiar with how it works. if I was doing it I would go visit the dyno shop and ask them what they recommend and are familiar with- any savings on ecu are quickly wasted if the tuner takes a few extra hours working out how to use its features and interface properly
  7. Good evening! I had a good day took the gem for its second drive with me. gutless as all hell but it doesn't matter as I haven't had the need to go fast yet. put her up on a hoist- adjustable rear panhard explains why the diffs still central. all the springs are still captive with shortened shocks so overall it was nice to see that jase did it properly. the starter motor had shit its engagement fork thing and the starter solenoid had a loose terminal nut that was causing some sweet sparks but at least the starting issues were caused by something easy and not ring gear related. so when I pick her up she will have a wof and will start. happy days!
  8. yes, 4140 or 4140HT if available ( never used it myself)
  9. I'd be blowing exhaust gas through it and then filling with water too. iv seen a tank explode ( granted it was on an airplane ) and it was fuckin miserable. also guy died just down the road from my old work when a tank blew. one of the things I'm not interested in ever doing is fuckin with fuel tanks haha
  10. man that's nice! I don't ever feel that I will want another one... but they are still amazing vehicles. anyway... sorry for taking this so far off topic.... I don't often succeed haha
  11. Hi all. Discussion //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/34636-fbs-gemini/page__gopid__1030017#entry1030017 Got this off Jase. needs a bit of work- the bulk of it will be taken care off by a panel shop. Plan at this stage is fit recaro fishnets (just got a set off tm for cheap) , paint and pannel in factory color and then later down the line holden 308 + bigger diff+ bigger brakes. heres a pic from the day i brought her home. As a temporary measure before i go with wider wheels i'd love to fit a set of mooneye disk hubcaps- the smooth caps like these: Could anyone photoshop those caps onto my car for me? THANKS! Also, anyone in the waikato know of a good (budget priced) auto upholstery store/someone who does it from home? I need the side bolsters on the fishnets repaired/maybe replaced with leather or something. ALSO, I need a new flexplate and good starter to suit this thing. The current flexplate must be worn as hell (and the starters pinion probably is too) ALSO ALSO would love an early 80's head unit for this thing. Tape deck with no CD so I can wire in an AV input. Cheers all!
