  1. Yeah will wideband the new motor once I've got it in.
  2. My Q-jet does that anyway. If I don't drive it for a week I have to crank it for 15-20 seconds to fire it up. So I'm used to it. LOL Plus when I got to 304 I need to fit electric fuel pump cos the 304 has no fuel pump boss and the roller cam has no fuel pump eccentric either.
  3. Short story, long... The secondary air doors have always stuck closed whenever I have checked them and I thought it felt like it was intermittent with the secondaries coming in, but I didn't know if my bum dyno was just playing tricks on me. Then I noticed it got worse during Nats roadtrip this year. I have adjusted them and filed them a couple of times over the last year and checked dozens of times that they are not touching the body of the carb but the air doors always needed a decent push with the thumb to open and after they "break loose" then they will move freely through the range of movement. In my understanding they should be free to open with only a light amount of pressure. So I am pretty sure the spindle has been bent since day 1, To seal the coffin I found out last time I was playing with it that one of the threads for holding the air doors to the spindle has fucked out. It could have been when I undid it to take the flaps off to file them but I didn't think I was that much of a rough cunt - nevertheless I resolved to replace it at some point with another but after talking myself into a Edelbrock Performer down Hamner, I looked on the Tard today, found a fuckin bargain and snapped it up. Would have been cool to rock the Q-Jet but the EP is just so easy and I'm lazy in my old age.
  4. Exactly the one we were talking about. I need to find one with the right parts or rekit a new one - either option will probably cost me $100 odd and I could be no better off than right now. That vs brand new, and comes with a calibration kit for $400. I wish I had the suck required for something like that. I put all my Dominator eggs into Steeb's basket for that big mountain block he is building for the HZ. From the ad - looks pretty sweet deal to me for $400.
  5. Enough to drain an olympic size swimming pool in just under 2 and a half hours.
  6. I'm liking dull silver drums, black rims, dull silver wheelnuts and no hubcaps cos it looks faaaaarkin tuff as shit. Also you will always have the caps to throw on and add a bit more of an original feel to it when the mood strikes.
  7. Silver drums with black rims and no caps is BOSS!! As per the rear in this pic-a-chur
  8. As KY the manager would say "It's all under control"
  9. I don't know whats noisy or quiet, but mine is really loud. Like can hear it before you can hear the car loud. Keen to see your setup for the bimmer thermo switch - I'll probably copy you too.
  10. I gave it a birthday a few months ago, converted it to the small cap type and I'ts waiting to go into the new motor.
  11. I think its a real problem to even buy 2 point belts these days. IIRC Repco had stopped selling them 10 years ago when the rules changed so if you were to install new belts then you had to install retractable belts. (they had definitely stopped selling static 3 point belts back then)
  12. Such swell, much puff, so squint. See you soon guys, or in my case on Saturday morning, hear you soon guys.
  13. Well this has been like downloading an entire season of my favourite telly series. I have had fuck all time to read the forum lately, so I've been catching up with bits and pieces as I can over the last day or two. I had the good fortune to be able to read this build thread from pretty much the point where you started diagnosing right through to now in one hit. It was the whole story in one compact 30 minute long read. I was worried that I was going to get to the end and you hadn't got around to trying to start it yet. Thankfullly when the video came into view I was very relieved. Top work on the methodical diagnostics Zac. I would have flipped all the tables and punched holes in all the walls well before now. OS really needs people like you to increase the average IQ count and I feel smarter just by reading the thread. Now you need to build a compression tester with that spark plug adapter and read via a smart phone app. Good motherfucking job man. You deserve a cold beer, shoe shine and back massage with a happy ending.
  14. I have an adapter I can bring but from experience I can tell you this trailer ain't no svelte supermodel. More like Helga the German barwench. A Lada towing it sounds a bit of a tall order? I dunno. NickJ would know best.
  15. Neal, you are a fucking sick cunt. Sick as in deranged not as in "awww fully sick bro" xox
  16. Ditch that EST - its fucking shit and will just cause you a world of hurt on the side of the road at 3am on the way home from Coromandel with a pound of weed in the boot. Get a VH Commy distributor but they are fairly spendy - like a couple hundred bucks or more now. Installing a points distributor is even easier and cheaper. Do it at least until you can find a VH distributor.
  17. This chappie here //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/44628-terminal220s-1982-vh-sle-sedan/ This is his for sale on trademe http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/holden/auction-881041517.htm
  18. Nice mate - sell me your Saas wheel and boss if you don't like it - I reckon it looks choice. Also there is a guy on here with a VH sedan who has just finished building his one up and I see it is for sale on Trademe and there is a 5speed gearbox of his sitting in Napier that he was going to fit. I'm guessing he is no longer putting the gearbox in if the car is for sale. Will dig up his build thread for you and you can get in touch with him, Also lower it on Dobinson super lows and those wheels will look not half bad.
  19. Did you use a regular compression tester or a special rotary one. They are special because they have to read 3 compressions separately through one hole.
  20. No they are 15" pursuit wheels off a VR/VS cop car. They bolt straight on with no modification. You are thinking og the 16" pursuit rims that are off a VE and I have found out that the center needs to be machined a very small amount to fit them onto any Commodore older than a VE.
  21. Could you mount the tank horizontally above where the passengers feet would sit? (under the "dash"?) Yes the seat may have to sit higher but you could just mount the rails discreetly. Then as long as you make the seat easily removable then yes the aesthetic would be disturbed by having a higher passenger than driver - but it will only be when you have the passenger and seat in there and surely you won't be going 10/10ths with a passenger in there so car balance won't be an issue..
  22. +1 for attendance - it's for Keith who came to the meet around Miramar on the Ducati - he joined the forum but doesn't come on here much - I told him about it on Facebook and he said he was keen.
  23. Plus one more, voting for Madmax. That is on top of my already vote for Madmax and keen for tickets.
  24. Keen for Madmax 2 as my first suggestion or Madmax 1 if that's not available. 2 is more violent and more survivalist (like the latest one) 1 is more of a horror movie. Yes keen though.
