  1. Also the spacer should also be sandwiched between the pulley and the fan.
  2. It's not the cutting or swapping of parts that is illegal. It is the reassigning the paper trail of one vehicle to another. I understand what you say you are trying to do but there is a law that says you cannot just do it without going through the correct process. The reason you want to make the change is probably entirely different to the reason the law is there but its still the law. You can still assign the paperwork and identity of one car to another but you have to jump through some hoops to do it.
  3. It's not rocket science man and it's not at all conflicting But just to answer your questions - even though I'm not sure if you are trolling or genuinely a bit confused. Yes swapping vehicle identities is 100% illegal. Why? It's illegal because you don't want the bro down the road to pinch your Subaru with a good motor and take it home, then switch the identity of his Subaru with a fucked motor onto your old Subaru. Because then he could legally own your car by the fact it has a VIN number that matches his ownership papers. I was on a jury for a court case where a guy bought bank cheques worth $5 and managed to erase the pen on the cheques and write his own amount in there to buy the cars. He then transferred the cars into his name and the cheques bounced some time later. The insurance company would not pay out because he had legally bought the car - even though he had bought it with illegal cheques. It's not the same situation but it proves that a technicality like that is a fuck up. Not allowing jokers to switch identity plates willy nilly is a loophole closer. For the hard proof... https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/vehicle-identification/vin-and-chassis-number edit - beaten by Clint while I fucked around writing my post and eating dinner.
  4. Get a shifter cable and make it fit the linkage on the other side of the new trans - it will be a fuckload easier. (Mercury used different bellhousings etc at least in the V8 - not sure if they did with the I6 though) They are a straight linear movement so a simple push pull cable will work fine. PS - C3's are a SHIT transmission because fuck all parts are available for them.
  5. ALL the midlife crisis's in one foul swoop.
  6. Last time I saw Steve. He's probably a spaghetti tin 3 times over by now.
  7. Heres mine from a long time ago. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/22549-k-trips-1974-austin-1300
  8. These are cool cars. What stuff do you want to know. I've toyed with them a fair bit.
  9. It's so people can comment on your build, give you advice and support without cluttering up your build thread. It's how we do build threads on here. It works really well.
  10. You can fit an A15 without certification, An increase in 25% of power or capacity is still WOF territory 125% of 1200cc is 1500cc... Jus sayin nameen? edit - I could be wrong as I'm recalling info from 10 years ago when I was doing WOFs. I forget.
  11. Its a sign that you shouldn't sell your 120Y
  12. That tank colour is boss and just screams out for some engine turned lettering with a name like "the Green Monster" or "Sweet Lolita"
  13. Hows Ping-laden going with the doors? /he's sold em for scrap already.
  14. Who needs lock when you have low. Also please indulge my desires and paint rims black, and the drums/wheelnuts silver then post a photo with no caps. Need something new for the wank bank.
  15. turn the pump around and have it facing backwards? Like this but a pump.
  16. EST is fine except it is overcomplicated for a very basic function that advance weights and a vacuum advance does perfectly well. Plus it is very early form of computer control so not developed and refined. When it works there is nothing wrong with it. Till it doesn't. Like now. Find a VH blue dizzy and jam it in. You may have to do a little research to figure out which wires to use but its not hard and the other wires can just be tidied up and stowed to the side. Alternative is a run of the mill points dizzy. Cheap and plentiful. You can get aftermarket electronic ignition to fit in a points dizzy. Totally adequate for anything you will do with the car in my opinion.
  17. 351 with an 850 - theres ya problem there. Unless you were pulling 8000 rpm.
  18. Fair enough Rog. Well Seedy if the girdle fits - or as the case may be - doesn't fit...
  19. Are we going to be oversubscribed for this place - should we do a last minute change? I'm keen as fuck for this place because I have no WOF and no Reg on my car and I can probably make a reasonable excuse if I get pulled over that close to home but thought I would address the elephant in the room.
  20. New carby installed - had to modify a couple of small things but it ran right out of the box and ran pretty good too. Genuinely so much more responsive and very consistent at idle compared to the Q-Jet. Things to do - tune it properly with the carb tune kit that came with it and adjust timing as it is a bit pingy now. - fit a right angle fuel inlet to clear the air filter base. - figure some way to mount the air filter as curiously there does not seem to be any thread down inside the regular hole in the middle of the carb. - adjust the throttle response as it is super snappy right now - probably just needs a lighter return spring. I drove it home tonight and off for WOF tomorrow. It sounds so much more rawkus than the video portrays but I know I'll be flayed without pics.
