  1. Some are 5, most are 10 "Beverage and some welding gases require a periodic test cycle of 5 years while most other gas cylinders, argon etc, require a testing cycle of 10 years."
  2. Mount off the caliper mount/arm thingy?
  3. Looks sharp man! Re: the vibration, what are the UJ's in the driveshaft(s) like? I had something similar (vibration at a certain speed) on an old car that turned out to be buggered UJ's.

  5. Got the plug out, was a bit worried as thought it was going to be a cunt. Also found some dodgy/damaged wiring for the alternator so pulled that out (need a few bits to repair it). Looks like some suspect oil lines as well (diesel life so vacuum pump on back of alternator) so think I'll replace those. Oil return on turbo is also clearly leaking and making a fucking mess so I'll pull that off as well and will be good to replace a few bits there. Hopefully this will limit the horrid oil leaks this thing has. Obviously can't do much till the world returns to normal, but no drama, will be nice to sort these little things out once and for all.
  6. Throttle cable binding somewhere/sticking? Could disconnect and see it it helps
  7. It's had a hard life on the cooling front, but I have given it a new water pump within the last 2 years. @brocky41
  8. Dang straight haha. It can sit there in the naughty corner for s other month or so, no big deal
  9. I'll save the long story and go straight to the money shot (this is me squeezing on the radiator hose) So yeh, that's pretty obvious whats gone wrong. This is all in behind the cambelt, that's the bottom pulley/gear at the bottom of shot. Would be an easy fix if anything was open.....
  10. There is a big black cover in behind the cambelt, but not super keen to get that deep. Water pump looks OK. Where coolant is pooled in the bottom picture was roughly where it was running from when I first spotted it. There are water lines to the turbo on that side of the block but they look OK. So yeh, will try get it running and building some pressure in the coolant system and see what I can see.
  11. Really.just need to run it and see where it comes from. Will whack crank pully and fan belt back on and see what happens
  12. Could be. Vision/access is pretty limited so need to take the cambelt off to see more which Im unkeen to do.
  13. Pretty sure it's not the hoses. Where the leak was coming from and where there is coolant pooling etc is no where near them but I'll take another look. They are pretty old and shitty anyway so could do with being replaced. Obviously now is not a great time to find replacement's lol
  14. Pulled the front of the car (well some of it anyway) off yesterday (better access), followed by radiator, fan, crank pulley, AC compressor (that's fucked anyway). Found coolant sitting behind crank pulley where I saw it running from, but still no clear leak point. Water pump looks dry. Think Ill try fashion up a radiator bypass hose and run the engine up and see if I can see it squirt.
  15. I pulled the gubbins off the front last night, doesn't seem to be the water pump and to get the covers off to see where I saw the leak coming from means taking the crank pulley off.....fun. think I'll Jack it up and check a few other things like water feed for turbo as it may have been running along the block and dripping from the front even though it wasn't leaking there.
  16. Oh god and how did I forget, I also demuffled it with the help of @Geophys chop shop, so its running full straight pipe. Sounds....wait for it.....GLORIAous (get it?) Not long ago I got to hear what it sounds like driving from outside the car when Geophy drove it home for me after I picked up my new ute. Didn't quite realise how ridiculous/awesome it sounds. Basically a big safari/turbo diesel 4x4 at full chooch, but its actually just a semi slammed wagon driving at a moderate speed.
  17. Wow, thread dredge (I'm sure I hadn't let it go this long, honest). So a while ago I packed my life up and shifted north back to the mighty Waikato. Was a lol drive...... Since then its mostly been a trooper. One day the fuel pump started leaking and got real bad diesel knock, so got pump rebuilt (not cheap....) but made it so much nicer to start and drive. Lately has been sitting for a few months awaiting me to give it a tickle up for a wof. Figured lock down would be a good time to start....so blew the dust off, pumped up the flat tire with my bike pump, got it running (just, battery is now flat) and lo and behold a puddle of coolant on the floor. Interesting.....topped up radiator and jumped it, more coolant pissing out of where the water pump is, so suspect its sprung a leak. Pump is buried behind the fan, pulleys, and covers on the front of the motor, so is a radiator out jobby. So pushed it back in the shed and pretended I didn''t touch it.....
  18. Yeh those extra rooms/annexes are good if the tent is high enough off the ground. We have one for ours but it's not that useful as it's not high enough to stand up. Have seen some lush setups where people have put a couple of camp stretchers in there and set it up as sleeping quarters for kids.
  19. @Sc@ Chi I'm sure you've done your research but FYI fold out roof tents like the one you've shown use both sides of the base to form the mattress/sleeping area. So unless you're a midget, or plan on getting a fucking massive tent, you won't be able to have it like your drawing where one half is sleeping sideways, and one half is open from below for standing up in. Here's our weekend getaway arrangement. Nothing special but is perfect for what we need.
  20. Sheeet need to find an excuse to come visit
  21. Finally got around to having a play with the leaves to try sort out the lopsidedness. So swapped out what I thought was a sagged set of leaves with another, and it made no difference. So then put the supposed sagged set into the high side and it stayed high so that confirmed it wasn't anything weird with the leaves. So then looked at the front which was also lopsided and suddenly occured to me it could be the front loading up the back in weird ways. So dropped the high front side down via torsion bar to match the other. That seems to have done the trick and is now reasonably level so I'm calling that a win. Still hunting for some choice wheels. Has done a couple of trips to Rotorua and back, one with a giant smoker on the back, has lapped it up so far.
