  1. Few updates... These are the factory city brakes. Pretty sure they are the smallest brakes ever produced by Honda, they are absolutely useless. (Even smaller than the 1974 Eb1 Honda Civic) Thank you Honda-lego Raided my parts bin for some sizeably bigger E-AS CR-X Si ones Suspension is next on the list for the city, as its riding high atm. Really high, high enough you are eye level with the driver of a Odyssey haha On the City wish-list, the Motocompo, the motorcycle that honda offered as an option in the 80s that folds up and fits in the boot of a city turbo Also scored some sweet 2000's NOS stereo gear for the City + CRX... Wooohooo All black touch screens and built in 256mb hard drive! Pretty hard case this stuff use to retail for $600-800, now the average cellphone has more advanced technology
  2. Awesome, love the shape of these. Just finished putting a new boot in mates gz10 Before http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/3626 ... 724886.jpg After http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/2853/2 ... 627363.jpg Think there was just shy of 20 separate plate on the inter and outer that were made Get to that rust pronto, this one was so bad because someone had covered it up with silicon rather than killing it to start with
  3. Pray the rear water hoses don't leak once it gets used again.
  4. This happened way back in '09 http://nzhondas.com/community-gallery/97050-little-f-kers-dhwarning-56kdh.html Our '74 Japanese import EB1 civic got firebombed by some vandal cunts. The '74's are especial rare, they were Japanese built rather than NZ built. Which meant higher spec all black interior, and a few extra factory features, including superior rust protect. But the downside is, they were only private imports, so there aren't many in the country. After years of searching, earlier in the week, by a stroke of luck we came across another '74. The car was suppose to be complete, but the idiot scrap metal guys who had it stripped it even though we had agreed to buy the whole thing they did a sweet job of hammering the dash out... Interior is a mess, but complete so that's a bonus Car was parked up in a barn or something in '09. Its full of straw and dried plants... Thankfully keeping it dry has meant the car stays rust free. Theres two small bubbles on the shell and it needs a door and guard. But otherwise pretty amazing for a 38 year old car. The goal! Stand-by as the suspension and running gear are swapped over out of the burn-out. Then it'll hit the paint shop (Again, damn it, thought I was finally over painting cars!)
  5. Cheers guys, Would love to have the Civic ready for April, but waiting another 8 weeks for the suspension to be finalized, then expecting hefty shipping times from the UK.... Might bring the CR-X or City instead though
  6. build thread: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=31693 release the hounds!
  7. Been lurking here awhile, thought I might share my dirty old hondas! Oldschool and Honda, probably not what comes to mind for most of you... haha.. Below are a couple of my front tuggaaas (First generations of their models, so about as 'oldschool' as they can get haha) '84 CR-X Ballade Sports Bit of background One of the first hot hatches out of Japan. 800kg, 135ps, mass produced twin cam fuel injected engine was pretty ahead of its time for '84! Front end (Guards, nosecone), sideskirts, door trims are all ABS plastic to save weight. I got it with a horrible blue interior, fail spec 1500cc motor and little brakes and soggy suspension. How it started back in '09 '10 - Suspension in, ZC fitted This arrived from Japan Bare metal begins Nat's '12 So after a bit of work, its now got a full black Si Interior. Custom built bilstien suspension, re-indexed torison bars - nuespeed springs. Twin pot brakes nicked of a 1G Legend. Engine bay is awaiting a early 80s HKS kit that I got ex-japan. Body got a repaint, it snowballed from a dented door by the neighbour, to a full bare metal repaint, inside and out. My other toy.. '79 Honda Civic. Again, First Generation, but the last of the 1G - an EB3. As I got it, a '79 ZR - featuring twin dellortos, it had just recieved a fresh panel and paint, and the cage fitted. Did a few basic mods, hot cam, 4-1 headers, upgraded ignition and ran a 5 speed en1 box. Ran it for a while like this, pissed a few older gentlemen in much more prestigious cars off in the Classic Trails series. Then stumpled across this, a NOS EN4 motor (a jump in displacement from 1238cc to 1335cc). Was continualy plauged with carb issues though, so it never went well with this motor. Purchased this as my daily driver. A EB3 Civic, with Turbo II (Honda City) running gear. Subsequently a mate left it here for me, literally 500 meters from our workshop. (DONT LIFT OFF IN FWD Turbos) So the motor went into the racecar. Its last outing, about this time last year. Plauged with some overheating issues, and suspension woes, has taken a backseat over the past year. But will be receiving a bit more attention once the adjustable suspension setup arrives mid-year. Ohh and the current daily driver All feedback welcome, keen to get a bit more involved in the oldschool car club, as I'm a big fan of 80s (and 70s) cars of all marques discussion thread: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=31694
  8. there might still be some manifolds kicking around for these motors, dennis marwood would be the guy to talk to, can't remember the name of his shop though. He did the twin dellorto manifolds for the civic zr's, he still has those moulds, so might have stuff for the accords?
  9. if you're set on bbs look, maybe buy these http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 124750.htm then sell yours. will end up cheaper by the time you redrill, try and find centre caps, and buy/fit tyres.
  10. look good mate, keep seeing it outside grants. wheels suit the car very well
  11. Imo grafting another front clip on of the same model would come under 'repair'. but guess it would depend on who does the compliance, and mainly, if its noticeable
  12. Yea be really careful. When it goes for compliance, if the welds are noticeable most likely you require a repair cert. Old mans got a Renault Clio V6 in for compliance at the moment, it that failed for accident repairs, (done by Renault hong kong) and it was pretty well covered, but the underseal didn't match the factory so the inspector went probing and decided it need to be stripped back
  13. Rob Penman is a g/c but don't think he has a workshop at the moment
  14. Class A. I've run it on 15 od cars in last 5 years. Never had one problem. Had accident and it wasn't an issue, had another mate right his car off, ami didn't give a shit. Looking up on police computers it doesn't show the specific registration class AFAIK, also what class rego you have has nothing to do with getting a wof or not. With normal rego you need to get the WOF first, wof inspector can't fail you for having no rego, or any other kind of rego. But yes I think you *could* get rolled on a technicality, but the chances are slim.

  19. Anyone had experience with certifying a car with Torsion bar suspension Do you lose the factory range of adjustability because cert plates have +/- 5%? Just wondering as my car has a good 20mm of difference between the adjustment range on the factory nut, much greater than the 5% given by the cert plate. I've had a brief look through the LVVTA documents but couldn't find anything. Cheers!
