  1. yeah just went there and got some today and it is totally i cannot beleive its not butter. just started shrivveling up after about 30s. Any tips for scraping it off? like the big areas are easy just contours etc. maybe i just need to find a smaller scraper. Selleys Kwikstrip is what this one I got is called.
  2. Aftermarket throttle bodies + LINK ecu. It was originally red too. Non of them were that shade of blue. The Quaife Tipo diff fits in the gearbox fine, it just does not fit the crown wheel. I wonder what Stacey did. machined the crownwheel and the diff and some kind of sandwhich ring or something like that to bolt it all together I think.
  3. Yeah I just missed out on the short block - all good though I got enough other bits anyways. Stacey has put the I think tipo? type LSD into the 130TC box, we were talking about it on sunday. ended up having to do a bunch of machining to the various parts to get them to fit together but I can't remember more than that. 8v over 200hp? hmmm I dunno.
  4. got a list/map of all the stages brew?
  5. could you find a not rusty one for a couple of grand to replace it with? its fucken sad cos its a sweet vehicle though. also those cheaper quotes will probably end up costing as much as the more expensive ones - it sucks but thats almost always how it goes.
  6. give the guy a break eh, obvioulsy doesn't know how the picture thing works http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=en&q= ... arch&meta= you have to upload the pics to somewhere and then once they are online you link to the pictures using the command
  7. yeah this is going to rock, get it all sorted for summer etc.
  8. ok I just read the first post again - going in a laurel probably just go turbo, pistons are cheap enough cast is probably fine if revs are <7000rpm find some big dirty turck turbo turbo or something. Then find someone good to tune it. probably get 300kw atw easy enough if done right according to all the ones in my zoom magazines.
  9. you could probably still get around 250hp with pretty good torque N/A on the single cam head I would think. if you can get highish compression pistions 10:1 + and then run triple carbs (ftw) or a tuned length intake with a large plenum and single throttle plus nice long exhaust pipes (750mm-1000mm). Would still be a good engine in a relatively light car e.g. less than 1250kg. but yeah for not all that much more money/maybe less money you can get a ridiculous amount of power with a turbo. whats it going in and whats the intended usage?
  10. surely a blaster can get into a corner where you cant get an angle grinder/wire wheel etc. definitely not acid dipping.
  11. 131 only about half of it has paint on it at this stage anyways. just all the shit to get at places is what im thinking about - around the boot, all the coners etc in the interior. the big areas im not so concerned about. is paint stripper paint stripper or what? e.g. can I get it at repco/supercheap/bunnings/regular store that we have in taupo.
  12. thanks man but I need to get it done in taupo aye, if I can't get it done here i'll just persevere with the wire wheels etc.
  13. this soda stuff is not sounding so brilliant, at least sand is more or less inert.
  14. rubber seals aside - does it get stuck in places that you cant just blow it out with an gir gun or something?
  15. this soda stuff, is it like washing powder or something? sounds like it could be the go since I would have to find someone local. I dont really need/want to get abosolutely everything done, can leave the underbody mostly and the big panels can be sanded or whatever later. but all the corners and hard to get bits is what would be good. The car is stripped completely now apart from the front/rear glass (got to get that taken out) and rear suspension+driveshaft. is it ok to leave the suspension in (i.e leave rear and replace front) so its rolling? or really need to take it all out and get it put on a frame with some castors etc.?
  16. Whats the deal with this - I've seen one or two people have had it done in project threads I understand blasting the big panels is a bit of a nono with warpage, but for all the hard to get places would be much easier than wire wheels I imagine. Since I'm going to paint the whole car now it does seem like a good idea. Also would like to know approximate costs if anyone could tell me.
  17. mean progress, tis aws. makes me feel like the new miniman
