  1. Your right some of those boost taps are shit. I had a no brand ball and spring type on my Uno Turbo which never held boost the fell apart on the motorway. After that I brought a Racepro tap which worked well, had a bit of boost spike but nothing bad. I got the electronic control this time to lower the factory boost on my Punto as its winds up to 18psi standard. I cant see the turbo lasting that long doing that to it all the time. Plus its meant to my daily, I dont need another project car The boost controller comes as a complete kit including the display, wiring harness, boost pressure sensor and boost solenoid. You just have to put it all in and find the right wires/pipes etc.
  2. Right I got myself a black Apexi AVC-r for reasonably cheap. Just finished installing/ test driving. In short its awesome. So far I have only hooked up the essentials and have yet to wire in the TPS wire, injector duty wire, RPM's, etc. On the test drive I set it the controller to off which boosted around .55 bar. I switched it to A setting and dialed the boost in at .9 bar which after some fiddling with the duty held consistent boost at .9 bar. B setting I am yet to dial the boost in. Almost feels that the boost is coming on earlier when compare to the standard electronic boost control. Took the better part of a day to install as you have to find suitable places to mount everything, however it wasn't to bad to install. Stoked edit: pic
  3. Pretty keen on the Profec A as its reasonably cheap when compared to some others. Plus its got that cool Overtake button for hi boost. Apexi AVC-r looks mean with the blue display, but costs heaps. Has a few cool functions like injector duty % and the display can show the boost as a gauge.
  4. Hey so yeah, I am keen to get an electronic boost controller. Has anyone got any experience with them? Possibly looking at getting the Greddy Profec A; the oldschool one. But I am open as Blitz and HKS ones look alright. Thoughts?
  5. Read this guide its got pretty much everything you have to know. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/s ... hp?t=66024 Nice job on that Galant Fuel! Thread hijack / I did some on my Punto today with Meguires 83# turned out pretty sweet. Meguires products are really good, its quite hard to get there cutting compound as Ripco and Supercheap dont really stock them. And make sure the wax you use doesn't have silicon in it otherwise it will leave swirl marks. Meguires Yellow Carbuna wax works sweet from Supercheap $39 dollars I think. Thats half the roof with one pass, I need to get a light on it to see any more defects. But I am happy with that as I just wanted the car to be red instead of pink.
  6. Hey there is a place called Hi tech on Akepiro st in Mt Eden. Its close to Wolf Mufflers on Dominion rd they should be able to do it. They sussed my broken clutch cable for $70 so its not too bad.
  7. I saw this van on the way down to Whitianga for New Years. Didnt know it was an oldschool members.......
  8. Right haven't updated for ages! Had a bit of a saga with a leak which soaked my carpets every time it was out in the rain. Found it was a rust hole under the heater box which I got welded up. Got the Strada back from the shop with all the work done. It went from this: To this: I then took the dash out of the car to amend some long term electrical issues that have been bothering me for ages. I also added a little bit extra Bostik Sound deadning behind the dash. For now she's back in the panel shop getting some cracks round the windscreen welded up. Once thats done it will be reenforced with some seam welding.

Mean thats a nice GTI! We need more Euro hot hatch stz on OS I reckon,
  11. Scraper works sweet, then use a sponge to get the little extra bits off.
  12. After a trawl through my gmail inbox I found some old pictures of Rays blue Abarth. It will be interesting to see how fast Stacey's Strada will be this time at Targa. Looks like this for all you keeping an eye out for it in the Targa.
  13. Yeah 200+hp it can be done but very expensive, cant remember the guys name but Stacey was telling me the guy was getting it with just an 8v. We were talking about how secretive some of those old fiat guys are and how they usually down play how much hp they really have. I think it is a shame they don't join forums to share there knowledge as there aren't that many sweet old school fiats about. But choice if hes got that LSD sorted! Anyone who has driven a 130 knows that traction is a problem with the torque they put out. Snoozin do it! That was a really nice Alfa you had btw.
  14. I think I saw pictures of it with the rear wheel arches cut up, cant be to many blue ones left. Quad throttles? From a blacktop 20v? I am reconsidering this option as I think the 48 webers sitting under my house will be to rough for running around town in. Sounds good though, tell him to make a build thread on here or turbo124. There are all these tucked away projects, some have good fiat knowledge too. Apparently there is this guy down south with a 131 running a NA 8v at over 200hp! Stacey was talking about an LSD, he was looking at Honda ones last time. I saw a Quaife LSD on his bench but apparently it was for Chris Punto GT. But yeah I am sure he will figure it out.
  15. Choice, has he got a project thread somewhere? I would be keen to see how he did the 16V head setup, reverse ports and all. Is that the same Strada with the rear coil over suspension?
  16. Ring gates or someone and ask if its an interference engine. Good chance being SOHC that is a non interference engine. edit: and check for vacuum leaks.
  17. Does the engine power feel flat when driving? I was a tooth out on my twin cam and it had those symptoms, maybe you want to double check the timing?
  18. Fish oil that shit, and paint some rust converter on the rust. That will slow it down heaps.
  19. Pretty sure l200's have LSD's in them as its hard to do skids in the old mans one. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 265957.htm
  20. Orsome, series 1-3 look best in white IMO.
  21. Updated previous post with new pictures I found from ages ago.
  22. Paint stripper is paint stripper, I got mine from an automotive painting store. Repco sells only smaller buckets, not really enough to do the whole car. Its pretty easy to use, I did all round the door jams and hatch jams without too much hassel. The stripper melts the paint so easy, I scrapped the bulk of it off with a scraper and used a sponge for the left over bits in tricky spaces. You will need to get elbow long gloves though to cover your arms, it burns your skin. Its ok as baremetal for a while as it oxidises up. Before my car got primered me and the panel beater used air tools to polish the metal back up to bare metal. Looked cool a chrome panelled Strada. edit here is a link to my project thread, it has a few photos of the process of stripping it down. viewtopic.php?t=13835
