  1. Sweet man, I'm free tomorrow if you havent got it running already. Give me a PM when your free. Cheers
  2. Minor update, while I trawl trademe for a Link ECU and debate whether its worth getting a G3 over the LEMv5. Thoughts on going back to black bumpers? Breaks up the red a bit and brings the car back its 80's vintage I think. Disco //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/23364-abarths-130tc-fiat/page__hl__abarth__st__20
  3. I can come have look if you like? From the pic's it should run. I know a little bit about these engines haha. Italian Autos will have the shiming tool you are after. If you know Stacey he has one too.
  4. Sounds like the valves in number 4 are being held slight open with no gap between the shim bucket and cam. Giving the lowish compression reading. It should still run with that compression. Those head bolts are torque to yield too meaning they streach when reaching their correct torque. Ie can only use once, well properly anyways.
  5. Hey, 1. Check the firing order. 2. Check the accelator pumps are pumping petrol down the throttles. Get a small mirror and a torch so you can see down the throttle and push down on the throttle. You should see petrol squirt into the throttle. 3. Check the balance between the two carbs and the adjustment on the idle screws. My engine gets well grumpy when these screws adjust themselves. Cheers Chris
  6. +1 Else color match the centres for max euro spec. You can try on my Rota GT3's if you want to see what red looks like with a polished lip. edit: Second the idea of having one side gun metal and the other yellow.
  7. You in Auckland? Bricon Engineering rebuilt ball joints up here.
  8. Wire in 12v hair dryer into vents. I think there are actual electric demisters that heat for a car.
  9. Haha, Ive heard that before. They are solex's but they still run fine and bolt up to a weber DCOE manifold. One should work in theory there as they are jetted for 130hp so using one should be good for 65 horse. Go to pick a part and get a single point fuel injection system off the Fiat Uno / Punto as those engines at 1000cc - 1300cc. They look identical to a carb purched up on the inlet manifold. I would roll with standard engine and get the handling and brakes sorted first. Those ball joints and bushes must be stuffed by now. tbh when I first saw this my initial thought was 2jz and that Oke20 corolla and powercruise. Then read the part about mounts
  10. Sweet car man, drive it over and take me for a ride! Leave the motor and just roll as is. 1.3 is still going to be slow as shit anyways even with big carbs and extractors. I would spend the money on lowering it properly, new bushes, fluids etc.. And painting the Gem. edit: Ive got a spare set of 40's from the Strada if you want to give them a go.
  11. Use the #81 meguairs with a meguairs diamond cut foam pad / waffle. #81 is ultra light, is green and has an oily texture. Using a rotary polisher do what I mention before. Its litterally just the final finishing polish thats leaving all those trails and holograms. This is probably why a proffessional paint job cost so much tbh.
  12. Looks like you need Meguiars #81 Hand Polish, its a light grade polish. Rated one out of ten in cutting strenght. Polishing cars is a two stage process, first use a harsher cutting compound / wet and dry 2000 grit sandpaper to remove all the orange peel or scraches. Doing this will leave scraches. Second polish out those said scraches with a lighter polish to bring up the shine. The problem with your paint is the final polish is too harsh. Swirl marks are the hardest to remove and the sun is always the harshest critic! Dont use a wool pad on the final polish as they are too harsh and will leave swirls. Use wool on your first cut. Foam pad for final polish. Use that Meguiars #81 and a soft foam pad doing square foot sections at a time. Do about ten passes per square foot to give the polish time to break down and smooth off and give a swirl free shine. It takes ages to do properly! Chur
  13. After a new stainless steel muffler but unkeen on the million different types of rice cannons RPS has. Does anyone know where you can get a decent normal looking one from? Live up in Auckland too.
  14. Old Subaru Legacys run a water intercooler setup. Pick a part?
  15. Yeah im thinking the the actuator isnt holding the wastegate flap shut when it starts to get on boost. It would take more tension to hold shut a ported flap and a standard one. On my Punto im going to clamp the wastegate flap shut with a spring to temporarily make sure its shut then take the car for a spin. If it makes good boost then will know its the wastegate actuator causing the problem.
  16. From the picture of your turbo it looks like the actuator itself could be too small and not strong enough to hold the wastegate shut under boost. Ive just put a T25/60 turbo in my Punto GT and have used the old T2 actuator. Im getting the same type of problem, even with it free boosting it will only get to .9 bar. I have spare S15 actuator that is physically a lot bigger than my T2 one which is simular size to yours. Im yet to try it but im pretty sure thats the problem.
  17. Going to get flamed for this but what about putting an RB series engine in? It will make loads more power and probably be cheaper on parts. Tardme has complete engines for fuck all these days. After building the 2lt 8V engine on 45 Webbers for the Strada it made me realise I probably would have been better off building a 2lt 16V engine on quads. Either way 240z's are such cool cars!
  18. Turned out pretty good, keen to get them on and see what they look like. I still have to make some little alloy brackets to mount the fuel rail properly as the injectors are holding it up for now. Next comes the Megasquirt and the fuel system!
  19. Scootling has some air filter material. They have a roll of it that they use to cut any shaped air filter for scooter air boxes. Could work.
  20. Hey Go with the 2inch exhaust, dont worry about back pressure as it will have little to no effect on bottom end performance. Those 1.6's love to rev so the bigger the exhaust the more rev happy it will be, especially with sidedrafts. I've got a 2.5inch mandrel bent exhaust on my 2lt 130tc. Rev's round to 7500rpm quite easy. Cheers PS love to see this 125 on the fiat club forum.
  21. Dyno results Went down to Nightspeed drags and did a 15.2 @ 144kph. The other car was a R33 Skyline. Only got three runs in though as it was so packed out!
  22. Hey guys I have a set of sidedrafts that have had methanol run through them. Its left a white powder residue all through them, whats the best way to clean the methanol off the inside of the carbs? Carb cleaner? Soak in petrol?
  23. Righto, now that I have a garage to put the Strada in progress should be a lot more! Since last update Ive got the new engine going, still running it in. Slowly making progress on getting the quad throttle bodies made up, so EFI shouldnt be too far away. Picked it up from down the line and trailered it back to Auckland. Couple of pictures of it with the new wheels. Im liking the color matching wheels, they are slightly a different shade of red however. Offset is perfect its not running any spacers at all. Finally a set of wheels that dont rub! I have a full set of black bumpers and trim that I plan to put on one weekend. I think this will break up all the red thats going on. Got the ball joints reconed and put them back in. In hidsight I should have taken those Nothalane bushes out as the ride is terrible! Ive sussed some new front rubber bushes and rear bushes to put in.
  24. I got these 20V Silver top flanges cut out today by some guys out in Silverdale. Eight flanges for $80 in 8mm Alloy. Excuse the shit cellphone pictures.
