  1. Had a pile of pvc pipe lying around, so decided to put it to good use. Made a bait cannon for surf casting. Made from high pressure pvc and a irrigation valve. Makes a huge noise when it fires. Powered by a bike pump. Had it up to 80psi. Couldn't see where the spud went.
  2. is it a pioneer head unit?
  3. Comac will do them as well.. Comac.co.nz
  4. WOF'd and Rego'd..... been doing some miles in it to.. it's like a oversized go kart to drive. Totally different to my VZ commy. Next thing to work out, is why the fans have stopped working. May just wire them to a switch on the dash, rather than turn on with the thermostat thingies that's hooked up. Got a small issue with the new carb as well.. it has a major flat spot, but only when changing into second, and only once. If I change back to first, then second again, it's not there. Only happens when it's cold to. I will have a look online and see if I can sort it. Oh and it skids like a Harley Davidson..... very disappointed haha
  5. Luckily the cert plate is for 16 x 8.5's, and thats what i have on there now.
  6. Ok, so on Friday i took the old girl in for a warrant. It Failed haha. Need to replace the right tie rod end, put the rest of the exhaust back on, get 1 new tyre, and 1 headlight needs to be replaced. The tyres on the 18" wheels that it came on, were stuffed. I had a blow out on the left front, while i was driving it home, the day i got it. So i put the factory set for 17's from my SV8 on to get a warrent. The only problem was that one tyre needed to be replaced. So to fix that, i bought these... I think they suit it much better than the 18's or 17's. And they have mint tyres all round. Needed a new headlight, so bought a set. Got them from Auto Lab in Henderson. $100 a piece. I will be getting new indicators as well, but my wife never picked them up for me.... Pick a part mission this morning, to get door pockets, so i can mount some speakers in the front doors. Came off of a VS Commy. Just noticed that the cert plate, has the old rego number on it. I will get that updated, once i get the personalized plate on her.
  7. New Carby all fitted and running. Now to read up on how to tune them up. Found an online manual, so will have a read up at work today. Idle was a little low at first, but after a couple of minutes, it seemed to even out and sit around the 700-750rpm mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtPq7RTLuac
  8. Still need to take it for a strop down the road, but it's dark and I don't want to break down haha
  9. Well the carb was a success. Ran the fuel line and it fire up straight away and idled.. a bit low on the idle, but that's fixable. I got it of a mate of a mate in East Tamaki, Auckland
  10. One of my mates has a set of corvette rims, i may have to long term borrow them off him.. They were going on his VH, but thats sat in his garage for years, with nothing being done on it.
  11. Changed the carb over last night. from Holley 600 to an Edelbrock Performer 600. Have had more luck with Edelbrock Carbs. The Holley carbs that ive had, seem to go out of tune all the time. Its got a brand new intake manifold on it... New Carb in place And as luck would have it, the fuel line is about 100mm short.......so will grab some more fuel line today. Chucked my spare filter and housing on also changed the top radiator hose, as that had a couple of small splits in it, around the hose clamp on the thermostat housing. I will get better hose clamps while im getting the fuel line as well. Project discussion here ------> //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/54236-nvmyvls-1981-vc-commy-discussion/
  12. So Its happened, I found myself with a bit of cash and a want, rather than a need of a toy. Its been a while since ive had something old.. ive had a heap toys, and still have toys.. So i started looking around for something that was driveable, but needed work. I looked at about a dozen cars and came across this VC Commodore. Started its life as a 1.9 litre, and now has a mildy worked 308 in it. Cam, flat top pistons, Yella Terra Roller rockers, high flow oil pump etc. The engine has been stripped down and rebuilt in the last 1000 kms. Attached to the engine is a R151 Toyota 5 speed, which has also been rebuilt and a new clutch fitted. Fully Certed for all mods. VN V8 Front cross member, VL Diff, VN Front Brakes. Bad points are that the paint on the boot lid is fucked, and the doors are rusty. Small patch of rust starting under the front window. Plans are to ditch the Holley Carb thats on it. Got an Edelbrock Performer to go on. The car runs fine, but wont idle very well. Fix the rust around the window, and replace the doors with the good ones that it came with. Then get it painted by my mates missis. Anyhow, heres some pics of the old girl....
  13. looking at a c1500 chevy. its been channeled apparently. Is this a major to get thru certification?
  14. Looking at an imported vehicle, thats not been registered here. what comes first? the compliance or the certification for mods?
  15. Well I went out and about on Friday, and had a look around auckland at all the zinc players. Terei Bros won at the end of the day. John knows his shit and is one hell of a nice guy. Had a good look around his small workshop, and saw the plating process happening in front of me. The zinc comes out so shiny. Almost twice the price per kilo, that we are paying now, but with the price comes quality, and speedy turn around. Bob at Otahuhu Chrome Platers sends all his zinc work to Terei Bros to get done.
  16. So who would you guys recommend to use in Auckland? At the moment, im sending a shit load to Acme Platers in Onehunga. Looking for other options, as the quality has started to drop, and the lead times have been getting longer.
  17. For a shouldered bush, i machine the centre hole to size. Then make a mandrel to suit the id. This is a tight fit to the id. Then machine the od major, then od minor. For plain bush, do the same but only do od major. The suspension grade is easy to machine, as its 90A shore hardness. Try the 60A shore hardness stuff, you will pull your hair out before it is right. We grind finish the soft rollers
  18. Only need a sharp piece of tool steel and a flat end drill to machine urethane. Ive been machining it most werks, for the last few years. Never had it fly out of the chuck either.
  19. I work for LEP Engineering Plastics. We were formally known as Mulford Plastics. If you want some, let me know and i will cut you a deal. And we can make bushes etc from moulds. Cheers Blair
  20. Just took photos but i cant upload from my phone. Its got a tf125 suzuki on it. 2 smoke. Needs a new clutch cable. Make an offer if you are interested. Looking around $600.. Will upload pics tonight when i get home.
  21. You wanted to know about the mk4... Well it's still rego'd ran out of wof in august. Lives in rangiora. Funny thing is, that in 2006 it got new plates, then had a set of personalised plates, then went back to the origional plates. But it's only changed hands to the new owner in April this year..
  22. I got a ticket about 12 years ago for no front bumper on my primera. Had the plate zip tied on the front.
