  3. I've ordered 3 inch drop plates (from Jer-Fab on the Samba), but can index them to where ever I like.... it's not that fiddly to do, used to take me 20mins back in the day...
  4. why adjustable spring plates? so easy to reindex them anyway... Can definitely understand lowered plates to fix toe in etc (in fact mine should arrive next week)
  5. the olive with coffee coloured interior looks fantastic... but I have always liked the shade of red your car is, I presume it's not factory?

  8. VW guys have been looking for alternative heating for years, as if you run an aftermarket performance exhaust you typically have to sacrifice your heater boxes (which clamp around the exhaust manifold) - so far as I know no one has found a working alternative yet (except for a petrol powered/burning heater...)

  10. my bug was cert'ed with no bumpers front or back and they're not on the plate so I presume that means it's AOK

  12. absolutely, is on the list... am waiting for a couple of suspension parts, once they're fitted the whole lot will receive a coat of black
  13. while you've been eating burgers and drinking beer I've been plodding away on the car... The guards are now on aligned pretty well (after a bit of filing and drilling), along with fender beading. Door, boot and bonnet rubbers are all fitted. Handles and catches are a mostly functional. External lighting is fitted and I started sound deadening the interior. Might not sound like much but the above has probably taken 30hrs so far.... getting closer to the jobs I have been putting off, Door window mechanisms rubbers and channels etc. As well as a full rewire with a new loom... so many wires for such a simple system....
  14. cheers guys will hit the phones and see what the guys suggested think of the job...
  15. I have been researching fitting the headliner in my bettle, however it's glued into place and the advice I have been given is buy two headliner kits for when I stuff the first on up. I only bought one, and would like a competent pro to do the hard work for me... Anyone have any experience with auto re-trimmers?
  16. an overkill solution http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=175412
  17. the wheels fitted under the guards (with a light roll) before paint so they should still be good... though once I fit disc's the track will increase and I'll probably have to rebuild the wheels... looking for a new gear box to do in with the new engine, will probably go IRS as well...
  18. no longer will I be able to blame others for the fact that it's not on the road....
  19. yes very pleased I elected to go with the stock colour, though changing it crossed my mind a couple of times...
  20. my week has gotten off to a good start...
  21. swapped mine for a '78 323... before it/I was overwhelmed by rust...
  22. missed this the first time around... it is awesome my first car was an AP5..
  23. sometimes (it's not that uncommon) people remove the thermostat and flaps from the cooling tin, making things very slow to warm up....
